Viacom Back In The Day - Am I Crazy?

I was thinking about the broadcasting of old football games in the 1980's & 90's. Many of the games were on I think Viacom or Raycom or something with local broadcasters like Wayne Larrivee. The BIG would prob have a nationally broadcasted ABC game with the likes of Ohio St or Michigan &...

    To defer or not??

Good for him man. Seems to have his head right on his shoulders and I like how thinks this stuff through. I also agree that robots will never be able to provide these services, at least now for a billion years. Robots run on 1 or 0's. They are programmed. You can program something for a specific...

    To defer or not??

Many more kids should look at trades. The cost of college now really has to be looked at for the degree one gets and risk of going deeply in debt paying for the education. One has to gauge if it is worth it. It's goteen to that point. The typical debt ratio for college is awful for most. Getting...

    To defer or not??

Exactly, this is the proverbial gerbil spinning the wheel, dog chasing its tail. Too many factors, and the outcome really happens in the nexst 60 minutes. 60 minutes for teams to dictate whether they got the ball first or not. It's silly, to be honest.

    To defer or not??

This is another point I thought about over the years. Taking the ball when winning the toss can also help with consistency. Most of the time in college, if the other team wins the toss they defer. If you have the concept that you will take the ball when you win the toss, more than likely, you...

    To defer or not??

Good stat. I say take the ball, unless there is a huge advantage such as inclement weather and like Fry mentioned above pinning the other team in the N endzone in the 4th. That is a valid reason. But, if weather/wind is fine and you have a solid team, take the ball for the first opportunity to...

    To defer or not??

It also kind of depends on your team makeup which can change in college. For example, when Tory Taylor was here or when Iowa has a very solid punt game, one can argue that they could take the chance at taking the ball when winning the coin toss. Not I admit, Iowa's offense and QB play was not...

    Peacock

Honestly, I've had it so long now I didn't even realize there was another plan one can get.

    Peacock

Ya ever try to watch the replay in Peacock. Brutal & unbearable. I went thru two commercial breaks that can't avoid the 90 seconds and said F it.

It is well known that Penn St. has had issues at WR, for few yrs now. Their fans bitch about the WR's like we used to about our.

    To defer or not??

Yes, I agree, there is that strategic play that can be controlled with winning the tip.

    To defer or not??

He used to take the ball all the time early in his tenure. I actually feel lately (last few yrs) he's been prone to defer more often. I prefer taking the ball, unless there is a huge wind or weather implications. I like the chance of setting the tone early and maybe controlling the LOS. In...

He definitely is reaping the rewards of these high profile jobs being open. Best time to get a contract restructure/extension!

    Franklin vs. Farence

I did see the one after the Iowa loss. It surprised me as well. I thought he'd be more of a well spoken coach who always said the correct things. Now I'm not sure how the hell he was so successful at Cincinnati. He looks more like a MAC coach than a P4 coach, IMO. You can't just go up there lost...

    Franklin vs. Farence

In addition, what is so impressive is how KF always kept the locker room, even in adversity. Franklin lost his team, Fickel has lost or is losing his team. One of the players said in an interview, they don't have an identity. KF has never really lost the team. Maybe the 2006 season is the...

    Matt Campbell & Job Openings.

Going after $$$$ and what ends up being success are two separate measures. In general, schools are always taking risks when hiring new coaches so you really don't know how it's going to work out. See Bill Belichick. I don't know what he has for children or age, but that may be the main reason...

    Matt Campbell & Job Openings.

In addition, his QB Brecht is a senior. But what makes me lean more to it being after this season is there is going to be a huge arm's race to fill these coaching positions and the $$$$ will be huge these coaches get.

    Matt Campbell & Job Openings.

I have this strong feeling that he will be leaving Iowa St after this season. I feel there are just too many high profile jobs/opportunities that have opened up and that are going to open up in the BIG and the SEC. I think this is the year to be able to move and kind of pick his spot. I feel he...

    Ethan Grunkmeyer...

I generally agree with you. Penn St. is still a Div 1 program with quality recruits. I see a team rallying around an interim coach who really wants to win with the hopes of gaining the job. Dangerous game, IMO, especially when Iowa has some questions in areas.
