    Clone hate is brutal

ISU has averaged at least 52k in ticket sales since 2011, and that includes some pretty lean years (2013-2016 no season over 3 wins). I think it's at least a little sticky at this point. The years where ISU beat Iowa and then sucked the rest of the year are meaningless. I know it happened under...

    Clone hate is brutal

Anything Twins says regarding the rivalry like that should be utterly disregarded. I guess I've just seen ISU/Iowa my whole life. I've never seen the fans this excited, and that includes last year when we didn't play. Winning is what drives ticket sales and fan engagement IMO.

Correct, 15 years ago. I think we can all agree the program is in a different place. It's not impossible that it ends up back there but I doubt it.

    Clone hate is brutal

You and I disagree here. ISU had Iowa on the schedule for decades and didn't sell any tickets. It isn't having Iowa on the schedule that drove ticket sales the last few years. It's having a good team.

    Clone hate is brutal

I will never complain about holding. I was told as a young kid that if refs wanted to throw the flag for holding they probably could on every play. It happens. Again, the difference in the game is ISU throwing bad balls and Hall having piss poor ball security on the 5 yard line. There's nothing...

    Clone hate is brutal

Of course there were some crazy people but what was there even to get mad about? I basically was scrolling through stuff on my phone and looking up periodically about halfway through the 3rd quarter. If a team turns the ball over 4 times and gets none in return you're going to lose. That's just...

So not to be a negative Nancy....

Here what I think honestly - Iowa's offense was not inspiring in any way on Saturday, but I think Ferentz is a take what the other team gives you kind of guy. And since ISU kept turning the ball over and the offense generally looked like they were trying to F a doorknob, he had complete...

    NCAA Football Armageddon is Coming!

Honestly I disagree. Redbox bowl is in San Fran, and CA has always had some very tight restrictions on this stuff. No bowls in the southeast (where most of them are) are getting cancelled due to COVID. You can deduce your own reasons why.

Seems reasonable. I guess I'd characterize it like this - there are probably about 15 programs that actually increase the slice of the TV revenue pie (because ultimately that's what we're talking about). Everybody else doesn't. Again, my point isn't that ISU should be in the Big 10 or...

ISU as it's own entity doesn't bring enough to the table to justify a larger portion of the TV revenue pie in a major conference. But the # of schools who do is pretty small. I honestly don't even know what we're debating at this point. ISU isn't as valuable as the few schools who grow the pie...

Any of those 5 programs? Why would I compare ISU to those 5 specifically? Of course they don't bring as much as those programs, those aren't comparable schools and I think you know it. I think college football teams are like NBA players. There are really only about 10 to 15 of them that are...

https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings PAC 12 TV ratings problems are well known at this point. I also don't think the PAC 12 is a very strong or stable conference at this point, of course it seems like it relative to the Big 12.

Of course he would switch with UCLA. But the real question is, would UCLA swap places with a place like Minnesota? IMO I think they would in a heartbeat even though they'd never say it. The major cash is going to flow to two conferences at this point, the SEC and the Big 10, and everybody else...

Again, why is that criteria for anything? Everybody knows who they are… we’ll okay? Take ticket sales out entirely. Nobody watches them on TV, and if that’s not what this is all about then what is? I bet our game on Saturday has more viewers than any UCLA game this season.

Honest question, what is the value of being a national brand if it doesn't result in more ticket sales, more TV viewership, or anything like that? ISU is in a better place than UCLA in both cases.

UCF only had one game last year over 3 million viewers and that was their game against Georgia Tech. BYU's best viewed game was 1.55 million viewers against UCF in their bowl. Several Big 12 teams get more eyeballs than that. There will be no Big 12 network and there shouldn't be. The Pac 12...
