    Season on the Brink

Hasn't the program been on the brink for about 2 years? When is it going to get off of the brink? Come to think of it, what is a "brink"? definition: 1. a. The upper edge of a steep or vertical slope: the brink of a cliff.

Why do teams use prevent defense?

Iowa's defense played basically 28 minutes of the 2nd half very well. Then they went with prevent-style looks. But I'm not even asking specifically about today our how typically Iowa uses it. Just in general, why do teams use it? I understand it's not give up the big play but it still allows...

    Let The Meltdown Begin (continue)

I'm still an apologist to people calling Ferentz a jerk or a fat-cat. He's a class-act when it comes to representing himself. However, that doesn't (shouldn't) provide job-security when it comes to football on the D1 level. It all comes down to winning. It's a cut-throat business. I compare...

    Let The Meltdown Begin (continue)

No. He was 4 - 19 coming into this game and CMU fans were growing restless with him.

    Let The Meltdown Begin (continue)

Iowa is Indiana-bad right now. That's simply the reality.

I feel really bad for Weisman

I feel really bad him too but I also feel for Meyer. Sets record for most consecutive PATs today and makes what could've been an impressive game-winning FG into the wind.

    Kirk is a fat cat...

I've always thought he's a classy man and a good representative of the university. But this is big-time college football. being nice shouldn't provide job security. winning does.

    Let The Meltdown Begin (continue)

+1 Nice and classy man. good representative of the university but this is D1 college football. The only thing that (should) provide job security is winning.

Anyone see the shot of KF after the Morris INT?

Fair enough. I just don't see how Ferentz's lack of emotion loses games. As mentioned by another poster in the the thread, you can blame the loss on a combination of youth, lack of execution, play-calling, etc. However, you can't blame the loss on lack of motivation. The guys played hard...

At least the rest of the conference blows

Good god the B1G is just awful this year. Nebraska's "black shirt" defense just gave up 653 yards in a loss at UCLA. Michigan proving they were way overrated this preseason. Wisconsin laid an egg, Illinois is getting beat by Arizona State. At least Northwestern was able to beat the mighty...

Anyone see the shot of KF after the Morris INT?

Personally, I prefer to have a head coach with a calm demeanor on the sidelines. I'd much rather have someone with Kirk's demeanor than somebody like Mike Stoops or Bo Pelini.

    Hey bandwagon fans!

+1 It's the knee-jerk reaction. Iowa wins a few games and Ferentz is a genius. Iowa loses a few and fans call for his job. The world keeps spinning.

Fran says Woodbury will most likely start

I completely agree. People never seem to realize the NBA is more spread out with the extended 3 pt line, NBA players are bigger, stronger, and faster, NBA games are 48 minutes with 11 less seconds in shot clock which equals way more possessions than in college which obviously equals way more...
