All you whiners need to look on the bright side...

Iowa accomplished the main objective of the big ten tournament, by playing their way off the 8-9 seed. Most likely a 10-12 seed now.

If only we were a 5 seed

I actually prefer playing MSU. Nebraska is still playing to guarantee a NCAA bid so they will be motivated to play hard (and beating Neb doesn't really get you a lot of style points meaning Iowa would still be in the 8-seed range). MSU on the other hand knows they just dominated the Hawks...

    coaches working the refs

I think the NCAA should ban coaches from being on their feet running from baseline to half court each possession. Make the coaches stay sat down until dead ball situations. Coaches obviously could still complain to refs from their chairs, but it may limit the constant lobbying into the refs ears.

Tents banned in Kinnick Lot 43

I like tailgating as much as the next person, but why is tailgating/no tailgating really that big of a deal for football? No one tailgates in the parking lots before wrestling meets or basketball games yet the crowds within Carver are very engaged and loud (at least this year in BB). For away...

    Game MVP

Hill should send a thank you gift to lowdermilk, because on all of his big runs lowdermilk whiffed horribly.

Why Can't Iowa Have a Jet Sweep

Agree this is something Iowa should try to incorporate, and no offense to Mr. Ferentz, but this isn't that "fancy" of a play. Have Powell split out to the right and run a post pattern. Have Canzeri split out left and be the "jet", and then have Wiesman run the stretch play to the left. That...

    Season Tickets - Football

No, you are not guaranteed 1st chance on your current seats. If someone with more points than you picks those seats first, you will have to select different seats when it's your turn.

How big would a win be for Iowa football this weekend?

A win would be huge because 1) Iowa doesn't beat OSU very often, 2) Iowa rarely beats a top 5 team, and 3) beating the buckeyes would get the attention of Ohio recruits that Iowa is recruiting.

Here's why I am not worried about beating the clones this season...............

I am really looking forward to the ISU game, simply because it is truly a crossroads game for the Iowa program. Win and you should go into the Big Ten at 3-1 with some winnable conference games (Minn, MSU, Purdue). Lose and I feel the wheels will come off, and you will see more and more...

Iowa Baseball Coach's Contract not Renewed

Instead of investing resources into a program that at best will be middle of the pack in a mid-major conference, which is what the Big Ten is, Iowa should dump the program and use those scholarships to start a soccer program. Soccer is obviously a growing sport and the odds of fielding a...

Help me understand the $cheduing dilemma

Since 10 games are already set each year (9 BIG + ISU), you will always have 5 home/5 away BSC games. For the 11th game, I'm OK with it being a home "cupcake" against FCS or lower tier MAC/Sunbelt. However for the 12th game, Iowa needs to get creative. Maybe alternate every other year between...

Former Hawkeye’s mom complains about Wisconsin-Green Bay coach

Whether the coach loses his job is to be determined. But after this article, I would think Cougill will have trouble finding a job. If you're the hiring manager would you want to risk having the headache of Cougill's mom calling and complaining to your boss or HR the first time Brennan feels a...

    Oversigning at Indiana

I know it seems like a shady practice, but I don't have a problem with "cutting" a kid. It's usually a kid that isn't playing much, or not at all, so why not move on. The only thing I'd like to see is a rule that says if the kid's skills are not good enough for him to get another D1...

Devyn Marble is returning for his Senior season

What are the Lakers going to do now? I'm sure they were planning on Marble coming in next year and he was going to replace Kobe.

Heard on the OnIowa Live show Zeller is giving serious thought to coming back

I couldn't fault him for wanting to stay in school. I'm sure being the star BB player in Bloomington has a lot of perks, and if you don't have family financial issues, you may as well stay and have some fun. However, since he's probably asked every day if he's leaving, what else is he supposed...

NIT Tickets sales must be going good.....

To avoid the chaos, and since Iowa was at best a bubble team for the last two months, the ticket office should have opened up pre-ordering for NIT, just in case. Everyone could have put it their credit card numbers, and had a reservation with seat assignments, and now all you would have to do...

How likely is Iowa to make it to NYC assuming they win the first round

I view the NIT, like getting a bowl invite to the Motor City Bowl. While the invite is far from the ultimate goal (NCAA tournament/Major Bowl bid) if you're invited, you may as well put forth 100% effort and win. And while winning it isn't going to get much recognition or remembrance from...

    Mid Majorette

At the beginning of the season, I remember reading an article in SI or ESPN Mag, where Pitt discussed they scheduled with RPI ratings in mind. They stayed away from scheduling the big boys (to avoid losses), but focused on teams that they felt would have good records in bad conferences (the...

Former Hawkeye basketball player arrested for OWI

Since the IA game didn't end until a little after 3:00, someone his size must have had a lot of drinks to get a BAC that high in less than 3 hours. I sit not far from Kent at the games and I see him going in and out of the tunnel before the game and at halftime, does anyone know if the big...

    Melsahn's "T"

It was weak, but I see why Basabe was T'd up. The game also seemed a little chippy. A lot of forearm/elbows to the ribs on foul shots, players slapped in face on shots, etc. So T'ing up Basabe for some mild taunting was probably the refs way of trying to keep things under control.
