    Moss testing the NBA process

For those who hold the "Why would he do this? Things are so terrible!" position, the process can be extremely short and simple for a player who ultimately does not get invited to the Combine. In 2017, only 67 players (internationals and seniors included) were invited to the combine out of more...

    Moss testing the NBA process

If anyone is interested in a breakdown of what all the NBA evaluation process entails, I found this to be informative: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/22854438/testing-nba-draft-waters-more-complicated-sounds

2015 best backfield of Ferentz era?

I haven't seen 2001 brought up, but in terms of depth of talent, I think it's the best. LaDell Betts Aaron Greving Fred Russell PLUS Jeremy Allen at Fullback Jermelle Lewis academically ineligible

    Trivia Question

I initially thought pre-BTT as well, but in looking at schedules from that era, the Big Ten regular season used to extend into the second week of March when other conferences were doing their tournaments.

    Trivia Question

Sports Reference has every Iowa hoops schedule since 1950. The earliest an Iowa season has ended since then was March 1, 1954.

    Weiskamp 4A scoring record

I spent a bit of time looking through the INA all-state archives. Pretty fun trip down memory lane. Two other years jumped out at me as having elite trios akin to 2019's trio. 1997: Dean Oliver, Ricky Davis, and Ryan Sears 2012: Marcus Paige, Adam Woodbury, and Kale Abrahamson

    Weiskamp 4A scoring record

Yes, Horner was Mr. Basketball. Ben Jacobsen, who went on to have a great career at UNI, was also in the '02 class. 2002 was a special year for Iowa HAS basketball. The other year that looking back had three true studs in it--though fewer were aware of the third guy at the time--was the class...

    Weiskamp 4A scoring record

First year that jumps out as having an elite trio like that is 2002. Jeff Horner, Greg Brunner, and Adam Haluska. All three were among the top 75 or so recruits in the country.

    Super Bowl Prediction

I'll say this-- Last night's game should put to rest once and for all the myth that Kirk Ferentz's Iowa Hawkeyes run a "pro style offense."

    New assistant ideas

I don't think the coaching change had anything to do with it. Kennedy was hired in December by SMU's new coach, Sonny Dykes, and then bailed on SMU for greener grass less than a month later.

    Wieskamp surpasses Barnes

Just curious because they don't say in the video-- By what measure is he "6th all time in the state of Iowa"? Unless I'm missing a qualifier, that seems incorrect. There have been dozens of players with more career points. Do they mean 6th all time among players at 4A schools? That would...

    Rules of the game

It is illegal for the kicking team to block a receiving team player until the BALL has traveled at least 10 yards. "ARTICLE 1. BLOCKING. Item 1. Kicking Team. Prior to the ball touching a receiving team player or reaching the receiving team’s restraining line, he may not block or use his hands...

    Woah... Weiskamp

Because he hadn't yet established a pivot foot, they essentially are both a potential pivot foot until he chooses, so if they both leave the floor, he can't dribble. Edit: From the NFHS basketball casebook. "4.44.3 SITUATION B: A1 receives the ball with both feet off the floor and he/she...

In this particular case, I don't have insight into the question of if they don't know the rule or if they simply didn't see the travel. If I had to guess, I would say that with a 2-man crew, the baseline ref either wasn't looking at the ball or didn't think he had jurisdiction to make the call...

    Woah... Weiskamp

NFHS rulebook, rule 4, section 44, Article 3-c: "The pivot foot may not be lifted before the ball is released, to start a dribble." In other words, you can't jump and then dribble. Weiskamp traveled.

    Iowa's Current Computer Rankings

Very interesting. FWIW, #22 would match where Iowa finished (post bowl) in the 2015 and 2008 Sagarin rankings. Under Ferentz, Iowa has finished in the top 20 on four occasions, '02, '03, '04, and '09.
