New assistant ideas

'Yes men' coaches can easily go to any staff. Problems with 'yes men' coaches occur if the HC doesn't allow differing or independent thinking while the HC's thinking is convoluted...Sometimes the emperor needs to be told he has no clothes and when the emperor constantly walks around without clothes, it's time to get a new one...emperor.

Yeah we get it you are a Kirk hater. Kirk has rules and he demands people follow those rules and for that you hate him.

Yup, if things were done logically, he would have been the new OC instead of Brian. Makes you wonder if there is some secret deal in place that if Brian is promoted to head coach, then Polasek will be promoted to OC at Iowa.

It's no secret at all. Brian will either be head coach at Iowa or somewhere else and Polasek will be his OC.

I could coach the 4 and 5 star guys. "Run fast, make some moves, catch the ball, run toward end zone".

He had just posted he was WR coach at SMU back in Nov/Dec timeframe and then evidently this better offer came along. Maybe that also had to do with a coaching change at SMU. Hadn't looked but I know that head coach was being mentioned for other jobs. Short lived career at SMU anyway.

I don't think the coaching change had anything to do with it. Kennedy was hired in December by SMU's new coach, Sonny Dykes, and then bailed on SMU for greener grass less than a month later.

Still, you have to wonder why Polasek took this middle step of taking a non-coordinater job at Iowa instead of just waiting for an actual OC job at another P5 school to be offered. Sure, he probably got a raise moving to Iowa, but its not always about money.

Well, Brian just built a new house in IC, so I bet he feels pretty confident of this plan; at least for himself...

Because Brian sold Polasek a dream. Similar to the dream Kirk sold Norm and Ken so many years ago. Plus Brian and Polasek mesh on an ideology level. Only time will tell if the dream comes true.

Building a new house means nothing. Does he also get a 5 year property tax abatement like the residents of Polk county get? Where is the house? Could he rent what he wants/needs? There's a lot more than what someone else sees as "job security" that goes into buying a house.

I'll give you a hint. It's closer to his daddy, but across the river.

You likey rules? You likey the spiked collar? The whips and stiletto, high-heeled boots? See, I can be provocative, too. I just don't see the point.

His rules don't translate to wins. That's football:).

Actually they translated to 143 wins.

Regardless of how you feel about the man's current merit for the job, it is ludicrous to act like he hasn't been successful. How soon we all forget 15-12 years ago when every hawk was shitting themselves in fear every off-season worrying that Kirk would split for a better gig.

I clicked on this thread thinking it would be an interesting read judging by the first post. It didn't take long for the haters to take over. Do the rest of us a favor and start your own threads where you can gratify each other by showing who has the most contempt for Ferentz. Leave the threads that are about analysis and actual football to the rest of us.

Amen

I'm hearing that Marcus Paschal is interested and there might be mutual interest. Maybe Rob can confirm.

I would take him, but I was kind of hoping that he would move up the ranks in Florida coaching and keep feeding us Florida kids.
