Yup....this keeps all that "big-bowl" money in the college towns and not in some chamber of commerce coffers.
The other minor bowls could keep on keepin on. That wouldn't change.
No super conferences you say? Easy....use the rankings now to seed the top (8, 16?) teams instead of placing...
In a playoff scenerio, you play for seeding and homefield advantage during the regular season.
So, NO, today's upsets don't spoil anything and were not irrelevent.
The BCS system is a self-serving quagmire.
And here I thought we were all "safe" with all of this Per Mar security that actually stands with their backs to the field all game, watching the crowd, so they can intervene on any actual or potential unruly patron activity.
Guess not.
Born, raised in Hampton. Parents were both Iowa grads.
Grew up listening to pre-, game, and post- with Jim Zabel.
Saw my first game at Kinnick in 74 vs Penn State.
Went to Iowa in 78. Saw Hayden coach his first game.
The rest is history.
p.s. When I was on campus, we had Fry, Gable and Lute...
Just proves, once again, how s-t-u-p-i-d the whole BCS quagmire is.
Uncaring/uneducated voters, half-@ssed computer input, homerism, on and on.
Until a playoff or at least a +1 is instituted, my tag line will remain, sadly, true.
