Anyone else hearing Brian Ferentz to Northwestern whispers?

Not really. It couldn't be more obvious that NW wouldn't touch a guy from a program that just closed a similar chapter of controversy and he fielded one of the worst performing units in college football last year. Your post did give some members a little wood though.

    Fitz In The Pitz

The 2 week suspension would seem to be the standard CYA move. You can't fire the guy without thorough examination of the accusations and facts. But you've at least removed him from contact with students as a "precaution". They're covered either way.

    Fitz In The Pitz

There's speculation on the NW board (yes they have one) but people are stopping short of naming him. They won't even do initials as they are several players on the team with those initials.

    Fitz In The Pitz

The latest is that a current player has come forward saying another player told him he had a plan to get Fitz fired. This is all driven by this one player.

LeVar Woods appreciation article from the Athletic

Back to the Levar piece. I really hope he gets a serious look when KFz retires. Everything you read about the guy is positive...from recruits to high school coaches to his players and coaching peers. He has it together. I was particulary struck by Kittle's comments. Who knew he was so...

LeVar Woods appreciation article from the Athletic

He needs 46 wins for that. Think he has 5-6 more years in him? BTW, only Amos Alonzo Stagg has coached more B1G games. That's crazy.

LeVar Woods appreciation article from the Athletic

5 seems like a lot but the recruiting looks to be strong. Nothing would surprise me.

LeVar Woods appreciation article from the Athletic

KFz will never be the winningest coach in B1G history. He's 68th in winning %. If you're going with the raw number of wins defition... rather than winning percentage, then he's already the "losingest" coach in B1G history as he has more losses than any coach. (though Fitz has a chance to...

    Bohnenkamp: Cade McNamara Motivated

Christensen may be the biggest WTF? of the KFz era. Exactly what did happen to the kid? Was he wildly overrated coming out of HS? Was his supporting cast that bad? Was he overcoached? (that infamous "hard to learn" offense). What was the deal?

    ESPN Layoffs

Agreed. Some decent folks on that list but I've never liked Rose. Wow...that's quite a list. What kind of nosedive is ESPN taking?

College Football Analytics Phil Parker Evaluation

True, but somewhat deceptive. College football points per game did a steady climb from an average of 20.7 ppg in 1980 to 30.7ppg in 2020...that's nearly 50% higher. A coach with a tenure from 1999-2020 should have a higher ppg than one from 1979-1998...

    Jack won't be a Hawkeye

Doubtful. I think Fran is close to the end. Last season had to be frustrating. One and done again in the tourney...overshadowed by the women's program...his kids get criticism (along with him). Fran will step down after the 23-24 or 24-25 season.

    Jack won't be a Hawkeye

When a player (even more so when it's multiple players) play for their Dad... they will always be under more scrutiny. Comes with the territory. I'm sure on some level Margaret is defending Patrick because of all the kid has been through. Being a teenager is tough enough but cancer, depression...

    Jack won't be a Hawkeye

It does look like the beginning of the end. Fran is 64, good time to hang it up. He can watch Jack play where ever he goes. Beth Goetz may have her first big hire on the horizon.

    Colorado, Arizona to Big 12?

I don't see anybody in the ACC (outside of Notre Dame) that brings a big TV market.

    Colorado, Arizona to Big 12?

If that's the bar, there aren't many schools left outside of a blatant raid of another conference/market like Texas or Florida that would check off all the boxes.

    Colorado, Arizona to Big 12?

TV $ drives it for sure, but the Presidents still have some say when it comes to affiliations. Some.

    Colorado, Arizona to Big 12?

I would think AZ would fit if ASU would. AZ is in Tucson but plenty of fans in the great Phoenix market. AZ is also academically on par with ASU (though I was surprised to see ASU ranked so high. admissions there used to require a fogged mirror and not much more). Curiously enough, one piece I...
