If I'm Greg Davis, this is what I do during the next 2 weeks.....

Part of the problem is that JVB checks down everytime he sees blitz, even if we have enough blockers to pick it up. Not every blitz warrants a check-down/hot route. There is no reason to check down if the opponent is bringing 6 rushers and we have 6 blockers available to pick them up. You...

    Bullock

Bullock is the most versatile player on the team. He needs to get 12-15 touches. He can play in the slot so I think be needs to get some reps there so he and Weisman can get on the field together and create matchup problems. The 2 best players on the team play the same position, so the challenge...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

I don't think he should benched - with conference play starting it hopefully gives the team the opportunity to start fresh - new season, hopefully learned from mistakes of the non-con. The League is so bad there is no one on the schedule that is unbeatable. My concern is whether KF will make...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

How on earth did you conclude that from my statement that I think it's ridiculous for a coach to announce that one certain player's starting role is locked in for the rest of the season? Seriously, you read and hear what you want to hear I guess, because no rational review of what I wrote...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

I disagree. Any statement KF makes to the public he makes to the team b/c surely the players read this stuff. Surely the players' family and friends read this stuff. I'd be embarrassed if I was the #2 and my coach said this. It's a backhanded insult at the other guys trying to get playing...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

Jon also said in no uncertain terms during camp of JC's junior year that the only QB competition at Iowa was for the #2 spot - look how that turned out. No offense to anyone on these boards, but we are all equally fully of speculation and conjecture. In my opinion, and I think the stats and...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

Fair enough, but just to recap, Banks playing in his first road game and only his second game against legit competition came in at one of the toughest stadiums in the country down 14-0 and led us on 4 touchdown drives. At one point he was 11-16 for about 130 yards with 2 td passes and one...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

Um, did you read the recap? He led all four scoring drives after coming in with us down 14-0, in his first road game at a tough stadium. Yes he kept Iowa in the game. He missed his last 8 passes which accounts for the low completion percentage. The game is a route if he doesn't play.

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

For good measure - here is the recap of Iowa vs. Mich from 2001. Can someone explain why Chris Oliver was in on the last play ahead of both Hill and CJ Jones? If I recall correctly Iowa was in a one receiver set. Big chance slips by: Michigan claws from hole, Iowa QBs struggle | TheGazette

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

Because I find the Banks/McCann debate to be so ridiculous: Iowa vs. Wisconsin recap from 2001: Banks led 4 scoring drives, and didn't really play a meaningful snap the rest of the season: Defeated, depleted: Uncertainty at QB again, defensive unit hurting | TheGazette Iowa v. MSU: McCann...

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

Banks played in the spring game. He was also the only reason Wisconsin didn't blow us out of the water in 2001.

Is there another Weisman sitting down right now?

The 2001 team had the same potential on offense - all of the stud lineman were very, very good lineman in 2001. We had an NFL back in Betts and an NFL fullback in Allen. We even had a receiver in Hill that played in the NFL. Certainly Banks could have run 12-15 plays in 2001 and had similar...

Some of you desperately need a second hobby.

You can't pay a guy in Iowa nearly $4 million/ year, charge what the school charges for tix, parking, etc., request the donations the school requests, spend the money the school spends, etc. and not expect (or want) fans to get emotionally invested. The moment the meltdowns stop the moment this...

    Bullock at WR

Will this staff get creative and use Bullock some as a wideout with Weisman in the backfield? Bullock is a good player and I think would give us a better option at WR than our current #3 guy, he started at that spot last year and we won't lose too much at halfback. Not saying switch Bullock's...

Jon you might explain it but you can't defend it

Over the last 2 plus years there are big issues that will come home to roost if not corrected: 1. Continually increasing ticket prices, donation requirements and now a "reseating" coming up; 2. Poor on-filed product; and stupidist of all 3. Tailgating policies that will discourage people from...

I feel really bad for Weisman

Anyone want to bet Weisman goes back to fullback and doesn't get any more carries when Garmon, Bullock and Canzeri are all cleared to play?

The worst thing in all this....

Careful, Ghost and Duff blistered me for making such an observation earlier today.

    The sad part about Weisman

Regardless, he's a very good runner that for whatever reason the staff did not identify prior to the injuries. I have a problem with that. Cripes, Ferentz gets excuses for not being able to recruit, and now he gets excuses for not identifing talent on his own freaking roster. I give up.

    The sad part about Weisman

Look, all I am saying is that Weisman hits the hole hard and fast - there is nothing rumbling, bumbling, stumbling about him. He's not Cervantes or Busch on a hot streak. He said he practiced at runningback prior to the injuries. Bullock has been great. No question. Would sure have been...

    The sad part about Weisman

They are calling me dum because I am dumb. I do question whether Weisman would have seen any meaningful carries but for the injuries. I'm not sure Iowa wins this game with the usual Bullock/Garmon combination. Weisman said he practiced at runningback prior to the injuries. I simply question...
