    HUGE E - ME

So Ferentz was hoping Riley McCarron would break a long punt return? Seriously? You have to laugh to keep from crying. Iowa gets burnt on a fake punt b/c it is trying to set up a return for a guy that doesn't have a prayer of actually making a big return. Neither Powell, nor Canzeri can...

Would it kill Davis to try to help his o line by running a playfake or some type of misdirection?

Why can't they just run a freaking play action pass for once in first dowb?

So is the play action game just dead? Under center equals run. Shotgun equals pass.

    about that 3rd and 1

The problem with that 3rd and 1 call is that Iowa could have gotten that look/coverage and run that same play anytime it wanted. It was the equivalent of taking a 25 foot jump shot with 20 seconds still on the shot clock. NIU would have given Iowa that same defensive look if it lined up in...

    James Morris/Fake Punt

Morris didn't have the initial ball carrier. Someone else hit the intial ball carrier prompting him to pitch the ball I think to the punter. Morris took a horrrific angle and the punter outran him easily.

1 foot and or one Bullock catch away...... from victory.

Ruddock showed enough signs that he can be a player. The interception wasn't his worst play. His worst play was the procedure penalty on the hurry up sneak. He had literally 5 guys running around when he snapped the ball because they were in the process of flipping the formation. That is...

    Playing not to lose.....again

The problem with the call is that Iowa could not afford another 3 and out at that point. It needed a first down. They could have gotten the first down and ran the play fake bomb the next play because the 4 plays Powell was in he ran past NIU defenders like they had steel shoes on.

Play that turned the game - the hurry up sneak

The play that turned the game was the botched hurry up sneak. Iowa is up 7 and driving/wearing out NIU. It's 3rd and 1 and of course Iowa's has to run the freaking hurry up sneak - that's Iowa's gimmick. Not fake punt, not a reverse, but the hurry up sneak even though it could have gotten a...

That's on the qb. He's flipping formation, has guys running around and doesn't even check to make sure they are set. I hate the hurry up sneak.

So apparently Powell only knows 1 play? Iowa runs a screen to MCarron with Powell on the bench? Makes sense.

Remember Albert Young having big first half at Ames - do it again

I remember this game well. Iowa chose to receive into a 30 mile per hour wind. It was also hot and humid. Young had a great game, but when he needed to come out Iowa replaced him with Schnoor as opposed to Sims or Greene. Schnoor was a nice player, but he just could not get through the holes...

    Kyle McCann

Iowa gets blown out by 3-4 scores that game if Banks didn't come in to put out the fire (same for the Michigan game). Playing his first road game, coming in down 2 scores (might have actually been 17-0 when he came in) with zero momentum he helped get Iowa back in the game at Camp Randell. KF...

ICYMI Monday: Top 10 Fry Era Players, Odds for this year's B1G East & West

Hard to argue with that list, but I would ignore the stats for a moment. If you needed to win a game against a big time opponent and gave me the option of Matt Rodgers or Hartlieb I'd take Rodgers, and the same for Nick Bell over Shaw. Shaw was obviously greatest running back in terms of yards...

That should have been a team control foul on purdue even though woody knocked it loose. Team control lasts until there is a shot or until the other team secures possession. Iowa should have had the ball instead of woody shooting free throws.
