    Rudock and Leshun Daniels bits

Good grief. Jake Rudock hasn't even been named the starter yet and people are calling for the backup. People quickly forget this kid was the quarterback for one of the best teams in the nation while he was in high school. He's got some skills. Let's at least give him a quarter or two.

When was the last time your remember.............

Don't know, but I'm guessing Iowa lost most, if not all, of the games when they attempted these gimmick plays. Trickeration is typically not a recipe for success, contrary to the game-day opinions of many on this board. Execute simple things properly and you shall have an opportunity to win.

The 2013 Hawks like the 2008 squad.

I was actually thinking the same thing. A good friend who played for the Hawks around this time was raving about Shonn Greene from his first fall camp."Beast" and "most talented running back at Iowa" were things I heard often all the way back to the beginning of Greene's career.

Over/Under Totals for Iowa, Rest of Big Ten

I agree 100%, too. You can't get away with not being able to pass in today's college football. But, I just can't see Iowa's passing game being any worse than it was last year. It was atrocious. James Vandenberg was atrocious. It was painfully obvious he lacked confidence in being able to run...

Over/Under Totals for Iowa, Rest of Big Ten

Marcus Mariota, Terrelle Pryor, Danny Wuerffel, Kellen Moore, Colt McCoy, Pat White, Tommie Frazier, Sam Bradford and Jamelle Holieway say hello. Holieway happened in 1985 (28 years) and there are roughly, what, 115 teams in college football. So, we're at 1 in 322 just using freshmen who have...

    why ferentz is awesome

Umm, yes, it does. What do you expect, that if Iowa has NFL caliber offensive linemen they can throw you in at running back and put me in the slot and we'll be good to go? Fat chance. They need somebody who can actually put the ball across the goal line and create plays in space. Offensively...

    why ferentz is awesome

Offensively, yeah, probably. McNutt and Tate were pretty good also. I'd give Tyler Sash his due as one heck of a playmaker as well. That side of the ball needs playmakers, too.

    why ferentz is awesome

Opinion seconded. The Yandas, Angerers, Bulagas, Myers, Moeakis, etc., give Iowa a foundation to be a solid ballclub, but the true, elite playmakers are what will take Iowa from 8-4 to 10-2 or better, and Iowa just hasn't gotten those stud athletes with great speed for a while. Aside from a...

    why ferentz is awesome

So, it's kind of like the English language with you then? Do you know this for a fact? You know that teams actually enjoy having to play Iowa. Typically, Kirk Ferentz coached teams have been fundamentally sound and have minimized mistakes. No football coach I ever played for was thrilled to...

    Ferentz: Northwestern loss ‘most representative’

Pretty bad job of execution, too ;)

    Ferentz: Northwestern loss ‘most representative’

So you're saying if Iowa has an explosive offensive system, players who fit in the offense and a coach who takes risks, the Hawkeyes are going to win ballgames even if the players can't execute the basic fundamentals of blocking, tackling, passing and catching? I'm glad to see logic is highly...

    Spring practice photos

Photo Gallery 1, pics 12 and 13 - when did Bubba Ray Dudley start coaching for the Hawks? Still can't believe that kid played QB in high school. He carried the weight pretty well then, too.

With no buyout, is Kirk Ferentz coach today?

The answer is easy, and it's YES. Yes, he would still be around at a top SEC program, because in those recruiting hotbeds down south, he'd be pulling in 4 and 5 star athletes consistently (and over-signing) and his teams would be a lot more successful than they are at Iowa. Prostyle offense...

8 Big Ten teams in ESPN's Top 40 Recruiting Classes for 2013

Survival of the fittest, sucka. Honestly, one of my closest friends played for the Hawks a few years back and, when the rhabdo thing came out, he said, "Yeah, it's hard, but it's not that hard. We did plenty of tough, tough workouts, but the coaches never sat there forcing you to finish if you...

The Hawkeyes lost 5 games by less than a TD in 2012.

So close to a window dressing record, basically. No matter how many games the Hawks won, they'd still be bad. Can't get ANY pressure on the quarterback (two years running now), have trouble keeping pressure off the quarterback, no real playmakers on either side of the ball. Offensively...

Remember The Excitement When We Were Moving Forward Like This:

The sky is falling, Jon. Remember? It's the non-stop, repetitive BS where people state Ferentz has forgotten how to coach and assume he doesn't care since he's making an income properly proportionate to Iowa retaining a good coach who, by all accounts, was highly sough after when the deal was...

Is two conference titles in 15 seasons good enough for you?

Glad to see the ADD of our nation has kicked into such high gear that 15 paragraphs is too much to handle.

Is two conference titles in 15 seasons good enough for you?

You better read it again. Please do not put words in my mouth and tell me I'm saying Iowa fans should be happy with what they get. Never did I say that. Never. I'll capitalize the important words for you as you re-read what I wrote. Here it is … Reality is, Iowa is Iowa, which is a school...

Is two conference titles in 15 seasons good enough for you?

That's not what I'm saying at all, but I get it, it's become the common finger pointing anthem of those who can't accept reality. Reality is, Iowa is Iowa, which is a school that has to work harder to compete with those tradition-rich schools, it's a program that can compete and beat those...

Is two conference titles in 15 seasons good enough for you?

In a conference with Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin - three of those four being historically excellent programs - how many conference titles do you guys really expect in 15 years? Even if those five teams, including Iowa, shared the pie equally and handed the conference title...
