Danan Hughes calling the game today

Remember the snow angel against Minnesota. Guy had some skills too.

How many of you actually met and talked to Nile Kinnick

I am only 35 years old so I obviously never met Nile Clarke Kinnick, but my wife's grandpa went to the U with him. He is still alive and tells of talking to Kinnick casually as he was on his way to class and Kinnick was leaving class at least a couple of times a week. He also is quick to point...

Now that just pisses me the hell off.

Btw... who here has fond memories of Danan Hughes hitting a homerun after every touchdown? How about the snow angel?

Will Mizzou try to back out of this one too?

Obvoiusly I know that this is not a possibility, but does anyone else find it a bit funny that we get a chance to play a team that backed out of a contract a few years ago so that they didn't have to play us? If this has already been brought up I apologize.

Two plays called before going to the line.

Why did we not call two plays in the huddle prior to the fourth and one at the end of the game. Here is my thinking. You call the sneak and also a fade or out pattern. It would go like this QB sneak to get the first down Line up quickly while the chains are being reset Fake the QB...

Add one player to the roster

Tim Dwight The intensity and toughness that he brought to the game was amazing. His receiver skills would be a benefit, but imagine him returning punts/kicks for this team, as well as being a headhunter on kickoffs and punts. Our field position would increase tremendously.

    Impression of the Big House

I have been to AA twice to watch the Hawks play, 2002 and 2004. It was a great experience. I vividly remember walking to the stadium in 2002 and having three different Michigan fans on three different occasoins approach us and tell us that they were nervous about the game and thought that Iowa...

Would a 5 man defensive line do better against Denard Robinson?

How about a 7-2 or even better a gap 8. Obviously I am kidding. We need to do what we are accustomed to and do it well. Switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 is not that big of a deal, one linebacker basically becomes a "walk away" end (example Joe Mott back inthe day). Switching to a five man line...

Fred Russell, LadellBetts, Tavian Banks, Sedrick Shaw, Shonn Greene

These are just a few names of running backs who pretty much handled the ball carrying duties exclusively during their best years. It can be done. I agree that it would be much better to have not lost Hampton, but Paki is very capable as a backup in spot duty. Obviously the weight falls on...

    Name me Kinnick?

I have one son named Nile and one son named Clarke, which are Kinnick's first and middle names. There are also family traditions/ties associated with these names, so apparently I met all above criteria.

    BTN Icons...Kinnick

If I remember correctly Sports Illustrated a few years back listed Nile fairly highly on their list of the 100 best college football players of all time. He should be in the top five IMO.

    Pulse of the Big 10

Knowing him pretty well I bet at least half of Papahawk's fishing stories are true ;). In all seriousness Jon, congratulations on your new gig.

Is the Big East Consipiring to take Run at Big 10 Teams?

On a similar note, I heard that Steve Deace will be leaving WHO to take a cabinet position with the Obama administration.

Notre Dame Football is a BRAND NAME....

Just to name a few more LA Gear, Pepe Jeans, Kangaroos (don't laugh, I believe "The Fridge" wore these shoes)Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Cyclones (Oh, wait, my bad, that last one never was a brand name) Unless you are of the status of Budweiser or Coke, the brand will fade.

With all the UI Football Jerseys out there...

If I had to choose one number to be put on a Hawkeye jersey it would be #24. Nile Kinnick's number. It is retired, but who could argue with wearing the number of Iowa's only Heisman winner.

    Who is Tanner Miller?

I would sat that Miller's situation is similar to Brandon Myers getting an offer late. I had a chance to watch Brandon and Tanner both in High School as I lived in their respective towns as they were playing. They are definitely different style of players and different body types. I am just...
