Exactly, this is a learning experience for them. They will learn and they will improve and grow into a big ten team. They will assimilate the level of competition they play. It just takes time for it to happen. Officiationg was obviously bias, and I am not one to complain, but our players were getting fouled and the officials swallowed their whistles.

This. We all knew this was likely a loss and probably an ass whoopin. It is what it is and guys just need to learn where the holes are and try to plug ‘em. Flush it and move on, it isn’t like this first BMC team came into preseason ranked 12th or something. They have to be patient and get progressively better. If they can finish above .500 in conference this first year it’s a win in my book.

I don’t know what people were expecting here. MSU is an interior team and that is absolutely not Iowa’s strength. Sparty has played like the best team in CBB the first month. They are better than Iowa but we knew that before they got off the bus

Oh, I'm not shocked and definitely like these Hawkeyes 100x better than any of Frans last several teams. Ben's SO much better at personnel management and system vs players, not to mention, defense, FINALLY!
Stirtz will be fine but can't deny he, et al, shit the bed shooting and handling ... Just like most teams will playing in Breslin this yr. Izzo has a really good team in like 5 yrs and is back in Izzo mode. They beat / Izzoed another good team .... Like they should being #7 and Izzo squawking at home.
Cripes! Remember 20? yrs ago Iowa beating #5 Purdue by 30 in Carver on a frickin sizzling 3-point shooting night by that red-head? In the name of All Holy ... Lickliter beat Izzo with a jr high roster and a lucky off night by Sparty.

I was at the game with my son who attends MSU. After Fitz gave his rah rah speech at half he said, I could see that guy being involved in hazing.

Ben getting his first taste of getting Izzoed by the refs. Izzo is such a bitch! MSU cheats all ways ... Flops on the field... Muggings in the court and piss n moan at EVERY whistle against them. They just suck and I hope they lose their Fairfield in round 1!

All kidding aside they do have a great coach.

Hopefully Ben can recruit and sign some 7 footers. The freshman we took away from UNI is big enough and will be great at some point, but he needs to build frame and get experience. He also will need some help. I’d take a couple of twin towers around 6’9”or 6’10” if they can jump and know how to screen out the opponents. Ben will teach our bigs and instill in them how to screen out under the basket consistently and that will help out a lot.

Also the officiating was pretty bias, but that is Big Ten basketball on the road.

Anytime the posts went one-on-one near the basket MSU was schooling them. Combination of size and experience I think.
