Trump supporters, how do you square this?

Bought this one last night, I'll let you know when I finish it.

How is it coming? I jumped back into the audiobook, I am just into Part 2. The author makes a convincing case, though clearly a lot of his arguments are retrofitted to recent events. I do find how well he has mapped out the current administration's actions quite impressive, considering the book was published last September, and was presumably finished well before that.

He has also supported his ideas with compelling anecdotes from throughout history. The throughline from Kramer's "Hammer of the Witches" to modern Q-Anon conspiracy theories is uncanny. I knew of the connection of the Q-inspired conspiracy theories to the antisemitic trope of blood libel, but I wasn't aware of how the printing press let that same conspiracy lead Europe into a witch-hunting craze in the 15th century. It is kind of crazy how people keep falling for these exact same conspiracy theories centuries apart.

The part on the problems of corruption and incompetence within Stalinist Russia that arose from the unwillingness to question any central doctrine was also very interesting. The way that the Stalinist regime blamed those problems on conspiracies involving traitors from within and global elites from the outside certainly can be heard echoing today (DEI made the plane crash!).

So here's the deal. I specifically said multiple times that there needs to be a way to keep a president in check, but I don't think finding one judge willing to go to bat for you is the way. Someone will ALWAYS be able to find one judge if that's what they want to do. You would be flipping absolute shit if random Trump judges constantly tried to stop everything being done the last four years. You can preach from your high horse now, but you would be doing the exact same thing if roles were reversed. But hey, at least I comprehend your side. You think everything Trump does is evil. So under that pretense, a judge trying to stop him is democracy. Roles reversed, a Trump judge trying to stop Biden would be the end of democracy. At least I give you the respect of knowing where you're coming from. So return the favor and don't disrespect me by saying shit like "I'm becoming convinced you don't understand how our country is supposed to work" when you know damn well that's not the case. I believe these judges are abusing their power to stop the will of voters. Just respect that I think that (and think I'm an idiot for thinking that if you want) but don't pretend that I think Trump is destroying our country and I'm pissed that judges have the ability to stop him. I don't know if you're truly that blind to the thought that people think Trump is actually doing the right things or you're just being a dick by saying that. But it's clearly one or the other.
I agree with much of this. Venue shopping is not great, but I don't see any real way to fix it. Congress should absolutely pass legislation to stop rogue district judges from passing nationwide injunctions. Both sides do it, and it's dumb. Require three judges to sign on, or get approval from a circuit judge or their circuit justice, whatever. There are plenty of sensible guardrails that still allow for injunctions when they make sense.

But it's clearly a personal opinion. This isn't a situation where 95% of judges are in agreement. This is an extreme minority of judges that are doing this. I've said before but I'll say it again. If someone very powerful with different political agendas wanted to find a judge to issue a national injunction to try to slow/stop something the president is doing, they will find that judge every single time. Are you trying to argue that Trump wouldn't or couldn't do that? Find a judge sympathetic to his cause to fight everything that was done the last four years? Of course he could have. He didn't because that's not what this country does.
Yep. It's a case of "Congress, do your job," though, which rarely ends in Congress actually doing their job.

On the bold, presidents aren't doing this period, but Republicans do it, too. I think it's more noticeable when dem aligned lawyers bring these suits, but I think that has more to do with their supporters generally being louder and insisting they're protecting democracy or some such.

A good pod that covers this issue often is Advisory Opinions. You'll find the hosts generally align with your political bent.

The numbers on injunctions filed against Trump compared to other presidents are crazy. Of course it's easy to argue that Trump's actions are the cause of the high number, and its possible that's true. But I don't see it that way. I think most presidents are figure heads that tow the corrupt government line. Trump is trying to end that and these injunctions are aimed to slow him down. And again, I've got no problem with someone not seeing it the same way I do. I just don't like the lame argument of "you must not like democracy" when it's blatantly clear by now what my opinions are and why I have them.

Thats my point too. There has to be something. But you can't have any one random judge have more power than the president. It has to be at least a little harder than that.

Now now, every administration does that....look at what Biden and Obama did.....
True. Incompetent unqualified risk to America Fox News drunken hosts running our military and putting US military at risk, our entire intel system at risk. Then when questioned all involve cannot remember, lie straight up about what happened. America is as gullible and ignorant as ever to vote for this trash.

Agree that congress should do their job. Also, the administrative branch needs to stay in their lane.

There must be a contagious virus that causes dementia. The DNI Director (Tulsi) couldn't recall any events over the past few days, it seems.

Yep her and Radcliffe and the cartoon book artist FBI director were all the same:

I don't recall
I hadn't heard that

These are the people who are supposed to know things before anyone else knows them. Lying sacks of trash hired by a felon rapist.

Besides measles outbreaks amongst the Kennedy followers (anti vaxers) there are now young children in same area seeing damage to their livers due to overdosing Vitamin A, another "remedy" touted by this same unqualified health dept leader. Only the best and the brightest.

Everyone older than 5 knows if you can take too much of something it can be dangerous. Throwing out blame because someone was careless and took too much of something is just another weak attempt to smear the Trump team. It reminds me of the overdosing on horse dewormer and drinking fish bowl cleaner stories.

The only questions are if vitamin A is in fact a good thing to take and did they recommend taking too much. If the answers are yes and no, then the health department was correct in recommending it. Someone somewhere being foolish and taking too much of it is irrelevant to the job the health department is doing.
