Lipstick on a pig

Our next game is at home, then we go on the road against a couple of "very possible wins". Giving JVB time to gain confidence, and more importantly get into sync. It is not far-fetched. On the contrary, quite plausible.

How much more time does he need? We're halfway through the season!

I don't think JVB will ever be all Big 10, but if he doesn't turn the ball over, I think we will have a chance to win any game left on the schedule.

I think it's plausible he will improve enough not to lose it.

This and this...

I think he can get hot on some teams and produce a win, and not play poorly enough on other games to keep us in it.
His pick today set up MSU's TD. Without that, we keep them out of the endzone and the game is even uglier than it was.

Not all of his poor play this year has been on him. Drops early/new system/not being on the same page with the receivers. He will need to get his act together quickly. He is making it very difficult to defend him, but its not completely out of reach to get him hot.
Indiana's D and NW's D are not juggernauts. He lit both of them up last year. We get PSU at home, and he's A LOT better at home.

Being on the same page with the receivers is; A: Absolutely the QB's fault, and B: Something that should be corrected halfway through the season.

I don't disagree with point B, but I can't say I agree with A. That could be coughed up to the new system and adjustments from both postitions.
Against minny, the recievers failed to recognize the blitz and didn't break off routes (I counted it at least 3 different times).
Today, JVB played mostly poorly, but the next few weeks feed opitimism.

With no one open, who is he to throw to?

This is the biggest Fallacy out there right now... I here Jon saying it and others - I've been two two games and watched others.

There are people open he isn't seeing them - I'm REALLY tired of that BS

Sure sometimes people are not open but that's not all the time - in fact I'd say 60/40 he is missing someone open.

It's not all on JVB, because I thought some of the play calling was atrocious, but when you throw it into the arms of a 6'7" DE that causes a pick, or throw it off your OL's helmet on 3rd and goal when you are throwing it to your 6'7" TE or you miss a TE breaking down the middle when you toss it for 2 yards on an out, when you need 8. That is on the QB. It's a head thing, and he has never developed in that area.

You should be happy because it would be stupid and weird to feel otherwise.

I get what they are saying though, it's like winning the smartest kid in the class contest because all the other kids are severely ******** and you just have a mild case of down syndrome.

I'm bumping this thread because after the win last week everyone was talking about how great this team has become and Rose bowls etc. They said that JVB was going to have a break out game and GD finally was getting through.

You were all wrong. This is a bad team. That's it. If O'Brien can do that in PSU with all the crap that happened how can GD not do that in Iowa City with the B10's best pure passer and best WR. It's sad, and it isn't going to get better.
