Iowa student tickets sales exploding!

I'm assuming you are at the Surf Ballroom?I couldn't make it back for the North Iowa I-Club this year.

Nope have a friend there....a few actually that provided the info. T
his was also tweeted by the National I Club. I am hoping to make it on May 30 in MPLS.

There's a big difference between clicking on some box on the internettes and showing up to a Tuesday night game when its January and 15 degrees out.

I am finding that zero to 1800 jump to be somewhat unbelievable. How many total did we end up selling last year? Could not have been more than 500. I find it a bit tough to believe that the Iowa student section will suddenly go from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand. And selling them this early? What student buys mens bb season tickets in April?

I hope he is on the level, as it would be a real boost to the program to have a rabid student section suddenly appear,a la Purdue or IU.

I hope they are not trying to lure them with le free hot dogs, because when you stiff them, they will never come back.

1. Students have the option of ordering basketball tickets with their football tickets. It's been that way for at least the past few years.

2. There were WAY more than 500 sold last year. There were several games (besides the free admittance games) where there were at least 1000 students there.

3. Obviously, there are at least 1800 students who will buy basketball tickets this early. It's called actually being excited about Iowa basketball again.

It'll be interesting to see if the students can still show up. Just because the tickets are purchased, doesn't mean they will show up.

I think the main point behind this is that it is a bit far fetched to say there were 0 tickets sold at this time last year. Something had to have been different.

Something is different...the freaking product. Not hard to comprehend

This. Tickets have been available in the spring for a couple years now.

But I think at least some of this explosion is thanks to the free admission games. The whole point of a game like that is to spark interest. Iowa delivered in those games, and provided an exciting product. If they'd gotten blown out in those games, I guarantee sales would be nowhere near this high.
