I remember a lot of people feeling like their dog had died when we realized he wouldn't be leaving. All of the excitement and euphoria that was created just subsided into a collection of message board tears when we learned the truth.

Will this be similar?

I doubt anyone really thinks this. But a lot of hope and anticipation is building. If it turns out to be completely false, I just wonder what the impact would be. And not just with these boards.

I think it is more hoping rather than thinking it is true, but I don't think you can deny that the heat has been turned up a few notches with Barta as well by some big boosters either.

Since I don't know any "big boosters" and I haven't seen a press conference where the big boosters said they wanted a change, no, I don't know about any heat that's been any hotter than it already was

Persoanlly, I don't even want to contemplate a world where I cannot trust anonymous internet rumors.

As far as I am concerned, it is all true; Lick has already been fired, Obama was born in Africa, and Lady Gaga has a dong.

Well it's definitely building momentum. My girlfriend just came back from the Coral Ridge Mall and she said she heard multiple people talking about it.

So it's not just us message board losers talking about it. That makes me feel better. :)

So do you inside info to back this up? Otherwise you saying it isn't true is as credible as someone saying it is. Just sayin...Of course you have a greater chance of it not being true though and saying you were right.

I flashed back to all of that, too, Burky. Sure, it could turn out that way. But I will say that the people who have chimed in with information somewhat supportive of the rumor are an unusual mix and by no means a group that were either calling for Lick's head or previously claiming that something was up.

The people hanging out at the mall during a work day are worse than message board losers. Except for the old people power walking in sweat pnats. Those guys are awesome.

"Alford to Missouri" was a lot different. In that scenario, we had to hope/depend on another school to hire him and get him off of our hands. This is simply about the coach being let go. There's a lot more things that can happen when you're hoping another school can hire your coach away than there is with him being fired.
 


Let me put it this way: I am not betting my life savings FOR OR AGAINST this rumor. I'm just not sure what to think right now other than I think that it's possible. I've seen a lot of people claim that they have been hearing something about this, not just a single lone nut.

So please don't come back and tell me there's no way it's true, because given the amount of talk that has cropped up about it this morning, I don't think I'd quite believe you at this point. :) Bottom line, I am in "wait and see" mode.

I will also say this: I am hoping for a change, and if it turns out to be that this was nothing but a bunch of pot stirring, I will be fairly PO'ed, and rather let down. I'm guessing that I speak for quite a few of you as well. It won't be pretty out here if these rumors prove to be false. Also, the guy who originally posted this rumor should receive a lifetime ban from these boards!

Come on HS you're smarter than this. Iowa is gonna fire Lick (and let him know) BEFORE the Big Ten Tournament game today? How much sense does that make?
