GET YOU SOME GUS JOHNSON RIGHT HERE









People like Gus because he has good tag lines. To each their own. I can name at least three other play by play guys I would take over Gus Johnson, especially in the Big Dance

Don't let his looks fool you, CC! I believe Gus is around 50 years old...but I love hearing him doing a game...he gets as excited as the fans without shoving it down our throats like Dicky V does.

I was thinking more of the Hispanic announcer on the Simpsons when a soccer game comes to Springfield.
 




I respect that some people like his style. But it is a little over the top for me...a little too in your face, a little too much fluff, and not quite enough subtle substance that allows the game to stand on its own.

In my opinion, no one has come close to the Vern Lundquist-Bill Raftery duo. If you like college basketball, that is the mountain top.

I like Gus but you are spot on with Vern and Billy.

Vern and Bill are the best, no doubt about it. I used to like Gus but he's just got way too over the top lately. Just because you're screaming at the end of a 61-48 ball game doesn't make it exciting, he tries to force drama into every game.

He's good at his job though. His job is to do what he can to keep people watching and he does that very well. When Indiana was down 14 he said something like "You can sense that Indiana is making a run here". Well, how? it had been a 14 point game pretty much all game. He's just selling the show.
