Flights to Bowl Games

What is everyone finding or has anyone looked at flights to our most likely bowl destinations? I am seeing prices in the range of $550 or higher to Houston or Jacksonville have not checked anywhere else but a lot higher than last year. Any one see anything cheaper? These are out of MSP.

I'm not going to fly anywhere this year to watch a repeat of Friday. I'll save some cash and get just as upset on the couch

Be creative and you can get a dirt cheap flight into J'Ville or Texas. Of course you don't need to worry about J'Ville.

Megabus goes from DM to IC to Chicago and then from Chicago you can get to Detroit. Isn't that best case right now?

Around $350 to fly from Nashville to Houston. Prices have been going up on flights lately. I used to fly from Nashville to Dallas quite a bit and I could find tickets in the $180 for r/t. Now I can't find anything for less than $400. This started about 3 months ago.

Found an extremely late flight DSM to IAH, IAH to DSM $455
Thursday 12/29
7:45PM United Flight 5361 to Denver, 9:55 PM Untied Flight 5925 to Houston

Sunday 1/1
6:00AM

American Airlines filed for bankruptcy and their stock is now down to .26.

They did the same thing in 2001 or 2002. I guess the way to run a successful airline is to accumulate debt and then file BK once the time limit has expired and repeat.

Where are you? Non Stop Kansas City to Houston Hobby

12/29 - 1/4 $218 Frontier
12/30 - 1/4 $241 Frontier

Thanks to all for helping will , we live in nw iowa and for some reason MSP is always cheaper than omaha. Keep ideas coming i am open to all.

Probably faster to drive to KC then MSP. Would you rather save $150 per ticket (KC) or save 2 hours driving time (OMA)?

$363 OMA to IAH non-stop on United:

12/29
OMA 6:07p
IAH 12:55p

1/4
IAH 8:25p
OMA 3:08p

Expressjet A/L DBA CO Express operates flight 4390.
Skywest DBA United Express operates flight 5198

Don't forget to try both Houston airports. Quick search on Expedia didn't reveal any difference in prices between the two but it was showing around $500 on United/Continental direct to either airport. Don't know what dates your are looking at, but also look at shifting the dates one way or the other.

Continental - Cedar Rapids to Houston...2 direct flights per day, typically run $380.

AA CR through Chicago or Dallas to IAH or Hobby about same price.

Quad Cities to Hobby via Atlanta an option too. (airtran)

Omaha, KC, Midway, MSP or Stl all are Southwest options to Hobby.

Hobby is closer to Reliant StAdium, but has less options.

I live in Houston...DM me if you have questions.

.

Most major airports like Midway, OHara, or KC have motels around, where if you stay the night before, they let you keep your car there until you fly back. Some even in a fenced and guarded lot. A bit of a hassle, but if you catch a southwest flight for $99, it's worth it, if you don't mind the 4 hour drive.

Thanks again everyone for helping. I should have told you all that we would like to leave about the 27th and return on the day after what ever game we go to if its a jan 2 game we will prob not leave until 29th if its and return the day after game , kids in school etc cant stay until 4th need to come back the day after whatever game be it the 31st or 1st or 3rd depending on bowl.
