TV for BBall?

Candy bars used to cost $.50
A gallon of gas was under $1.00.
You could get most of the Iowa games free over the air in the state of Iowa.

Now candy bars cost $1.19.
Gas is $3.50 a gallon.
Iowa games are accessible across the nation and globe for a small fee.

Times have changed, adapt or don't.

Yes, times change and prices go up. I don't see that as a reason to show women's soccer and field hockey and not Iowa basketball. Before the BTN I was able to watch the games, now I can't.

Other then times changing, what is there reason for not showing the games we expect to see?

One way to keep up with the times would be to get a computer/laptop with an HDMI input. Then connect with an HDMI cable to your HDTV and the picture should be very good. It was last Sunday when I used my son's laptop. World of difference from watching last years preconference games on BTN live streaming. Of course, I would be watching a pitiful picture without the kindness of my son.

I like Hawkeye basketball enough to appreciate being able to watch the games that are not on TV. The situation stinks, no matter what the reasons for the problem. Many Hawk fans are still reeling from the Mediacom/Sinclair mess, and it is still difficult to watch Hawk preconference basketball. But I have had to let the past go. Hell, I even watched every game during the Lick years. Some could question my sanity.....

:)

Except it's not pay more, get less.

It's pay more, get less, and get less quality. The same gallon of gas from 10 years ago gets you just as far as a gallon now. In fact, mpg has improved along with cars.

You're ignoring (repeatedly) the fact that internet TV on the whole, hasn't evolved to totally ready for mainstream...or at least BTN servers can't handle it. Several on here have paid and have mentioned issues to that end.

And what about those that live in areas where broadband isn't available. There are a few of those in Iowa you know (likely more than most Big Ten states...though OTA or PAY SATELLITE is readily available.)

I'll grant that the last point is a pretty small population, but it exists nonetheless. But the BTN's inability to deliver a consistently quality product is the biggest case against this.

Not true.

The candy bars are smaller, so you are getting less and some don't taste as good as they did back in the day.

The gas, you used to get 100% petroleum based fuels, now you get stuck with ethanol added fuels, for more money.

I get what you are saying, you have to pay more money for the same thing you used to get free and now the same quality isn't there, I get that.

For the record, I don't think the streaming is awful. It was much worse the first couple years w/ the BTN than it is now.

This is the option we have right now. If we want to watch Iowa BB - we get it online for the games that aren't attractive enough to put on the main BTN feed or we get off our ***** and go to the game. That's the solution.

If they want to charge for it, they need to have an up-time similar to cable or satellite, and it needs to be in HD, and looking bangin on my 47"

The streaming picture today on a HD TV looks 10x better than a SD picture on a tube TV from 5-10 years ago.

They aren't showing women's soccer or field hockey, they are showing other non conference basketball games of other schools.

Where do you live? It is about 5 games that aren't televised no matter where you live, but if you live out of state there would be about 5 games you could watch without the BTN.

So you miss 5 games against some **** poor competition, it isn't like they aren't showing some of the "bigger" games such as Creighton and Drake.
