Dual winning streak record

I know Iowa's 57 straight wins is a school record, but I've never seen it listed as a national record so I'm assuming someone else has it (OSU?). Anyone know what the NCAA record for consecutive wins is?

Ahh, thanks. I've been looking for that for awhile. Looks like we've still got a ways to go.

I think 57 is 4th longest with the other 3 all by OSU. I think 2nd place is in the upper 60's, not sure about 3rd place. We're getting there!

If we win out this season (probable) we will be at 62, I believe, which means we would need to get most of the way through the Big Ten season next year without a loss to beat OSU's record. Not impossible, but with all the departures after this year it will be very tough.

I dunno, everyone else in the nation loses people as well, and Iowa fills there lineup pretty well

125 Mc D
133 Moore - maybe ramos makes a competition of it, dont think theres any point in him at 25 with McD's success
141 Marion
149 Carew
157 St. John (despite kerr and jansens recent success hes still the best 57 on the roster
165 Jansen/Kerr
174 Lofthouse (already beat burk)
184 Gambrall (three time all american is a def possibility especially with the amount of seniors vacating this weight)
197 Lofthouse (definately benefitting from this years mat time already)
285 Johnson /Raising

Ya gotta remember three years ago all the "experts" were certain iowa would have a tough time patching holes and no one could have predicted what slaton, leclare, borshal, metcalf, beatty, erekson, and dennis would accomplish by the time they were seniors. I'm sure Brands has a contingency plan. And who knows how the new recruiting class will add to this.

What is Iowa's all time wrestling record? I saw some post on cyclonefanatic about Iowa State should be the first team ever to break 1000 wins in wrestling, even ahead of OSU

When is either Lofthouse slated to perform their Mormon mission? Will it be during their college career?

I think I remember someone saying the younger Lofthouse was planning on doing his mission after his Sophomore year and returning as a Junior afterwards. Not sure how solid that info was though.

If OSU really has three winning streaks that total over 200 wins by themselves, I find it hard to believe ISU will beat them (or us, for that matter) to 1,000. Anyone know of a good site for all-time records and so forth?

Word is that McDonough will likely go up to 133 next year. He is cutting like mad this year, but apparently handling it REAL well.

That is what I thought also. He is cutting a lot of weight this year to get to 125. I think Ramos or Moore will be at 125 next year.

At this point in time McDonough is planning on being back at 125 next year. If he doesn't go to 125 then he will go up to 141. That would put Moore at 133 and Marion at 149 if it plays that way. If so, then I would expect Tyler Clark and Tony Ramos to battle it out at 125 and I would give Clark the edge right now...

Also, expect St John to go 165 next year with another offseason of weight training. Luke Lofthouse has already taken his mission and Ethan Lofthouse current plan is to wrestle next year as a redshirt freshman and then come back after 2 years with 3 years left.

On 1600AM (Cedar Rapids) report this morning. They stated that ISU's victory over Cornell on Sunday, was the Cyclone's 999 dual victory.

Yeah, I knew they were about to get to 1,000. I meant that I have a hard time believing neither OSU nor Iowa already have 1,000. I wouldn't be completely shocked if ISU has the most victories of all time, but when I read in the Register that they had 999 I assumed OSU and Iowa must already be beyond that.

I think I saw somewhere OSU has 985 and Iowa is in the 860's, you have to remember before Gable, Iowa wrestling wasn't very good.

854-215-30 entering this season so that would make the wrestlers 872-215-30 as of last night.

Heading into this season the clones were 989-261-20 currently standing at 999-263-20.

Huge difference in amount of duals there.

Total duals. Iowa - 1099 Iowa State - 1282

Overall winning percentage Iowa - 77.7% Iowa State 77.9%
