Hypothetical question about Barta...

How confident are you that Barta would hire the right guy (1st try) to replace Kirk?

I don't mean this to belittle Gary in any way. Just curious about the overall confidence level in him from a fan's percpective.

If, for whatever reason, the upcomming football season was the last for Kirk as Iowa's head coach.....how confident are you that Barta would make 'the right hire' for the next Iowa head football coach?

Good point, he's really turned that thing around with the hire of Fran and getting the practice facility/renovations started.

I agree with Latrans, he'd hire the right guy.

I think he'd get it done right the first time.

I guess I just don't expect perfection out of people. I look at the whole situation, the situation our basketball program was in when Alford left, and the reasons why he hired who he did, and ask does that make sense? Did the Licklighter hire make sense.

At the time I think it did. When you look at all the stated reasons he made that hire it all made sense. Clearly it didn't work out, but not everything in life does.

The second time he had to hire a baskeball coach he went through a very similar process. He found someone that made perfect sense in that situation as well, and it looks like that is going to work out fine.

Ohh and don't think I didn't understand what you were saying with your comment, and that it was meant in the exact opposit way of the way I pretended to take it. I was simply pointing out that some people were pleased with his performance regarding how he's approached his basketball coaching decisions, both in the hiring and in the firing.

Barta is an awful AD. Giving him credit for the extra money in the athletic department is great comedy. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the Big 10 network and the fact that Kirk Ferentz has taken Iowa football to many Jan 1st Bowl games.......

But what do I know? I'm just a Cyclone troll who doesn't no crap, so let the bashing begin!

If you are looking for comedy, check out ISU's inability to raise enough money from donor's to build so much as metal bleechers at the end of thier 3/4's of a stadium.

Iowa football is no doubt on a roll but that doesn't explain the amount of donor money secured to do a Carver rehaul.
 


I have confidence in Barta. He's the type of guy to correct his mistakes and stand by his decisions. Every coach at Iowa has his backing. And after the flop hire of TL, Barta would just go for a KF clone to replace KF.
