Iowa looks into alleged recruiting violation

Cam's Daddy talks big buck$ with SEC programs (allegedly) but Iowa gets a letter of inquiry about possible contact during the dead period. Amazing.

IIRC, Cooper tweeted about Paterno calling him. It happened to be during one of these no contact periods... But PSU gets nothing.

Just the NCAA's way of say "Hey - we have seen you speeding a bit lately. This is just a warning to keep an eye on your speed."

Probably just got caught speeding in a highly congested area where everyone else typically speeds too.

You know what, some of you posters are right. The NCAA is picking on little old Iowa. They completely leave the 'marquee' programs alone...except for Michigan...and Tennessee...and USC...and OSU...and...

It's funny. Pretty much everyone agrees that there are no programs in college football that are 100% clean. But then something like this surprises everyone. We toe the line like most college programs and every once in a while the NCAA gives us a yell to make sure we know they are there. Nothing much more than that.

Do you see any of those programs broken in pieces on the ground because of the heavy punishment dropped by the NCAA?

Nah, me neither.

The thing that bothers me is not that we are being investigated. I'm not worried about it since nothing will come of it. But what really gets at me is that schools such as Auburn, OSU, Kentucky bball are getting nothing done to them when its rather obvious to the world what is going on.. Also this oversigning crap is getting old. Its something the NCAA needs to fix but we all know they won't anytime soon.

Don't forget the speed at which the NCAA came down on Iowa for posting the weightlifting video online, which theoretically allowed coaches to take attendance for mandatory workouts.

Or Ashton Kutcher meeting a couple recruits. Harrison Barnes played 1x1 with MJ at UNC, but nothing came of that.

I generally don't complain about conspiracies, but the NCAA is a poor organization.

USC got hit pretty hard. Losing scholarships for several years is significant.

FWIW...every program pushes the limits, and many cross the line. This is no secret. I have friends who were big time DI recruits from the 90's and they all say that there was a lot of passing of cash to recruits during visits. And this was at ALL schools, not just the top programs.
