Today sucks... (reflecting on the season)

I always hate the day after NCAA's, knowing I'll have to wait several months to see the Hawks compete again.

It was a solid year though. I know people are disappointed we didn't win it all (myself included). But I think you can take away many positives from the year, and be optimistic about our chances next year.

I really think the addition of Carew and Moore/Kelly at 157 will add some big points to our lineup next year.

There's no doubt in my mind that Montell Marion will close the gap between him and Kellen Russell, its not a question of IF it will happen its WHEN it will happen. Montell will give Russell all he can handle next year.

Ditto for Derek St John and David Taylor

I think it was a successful season. Some wondered if Iowa might struggle to field a Top Ten team, much less Top 3...didn't lose a dual meet this year, beat the national champs in the dual at their place.

Your right IH89 today does suck Im still in Philly for one more day and no Iowa wrestling til next November. As far as the 3rd place finish as much as it stings its what i expected coming out here. Cornell was the frontrunner coming in and fell on there face in the semis, PSU took that opportunity and started racking up bonus points like crazy they will be very good for the next 3 years for sure.

The smug look on Cael's face was tough to look at.... Taylor getting pinned by Bubba helped though!!!!

He'll always know that he had to go somewhere else to do it. And time will tell if he can actually coach. He had a champ, 2nd and 3rd place guy that weren't his guys...and an uninspired Ruth. We will see if all these phenoms get better next year.

I watched a couple of david taylor's matches from high school last night and he wrestles the exact same now as he did then. He has gotten a bit stronger but all the moves and style that he uses are identical. Im not really sure what Cael has done the past two years other than make him lift weights.

my family and i are also ready for next year. Coming into this year i felt that some of our low preseason ranking were way off given our coaching staff.

We all know that this team will come out full of sting from this years finals given the fact that they finished 3rd. not that a 3rd place is bad, but it is not where our coaches and wrestlers want to be, or expect to be. I know psu comes back loaded, but if my hunch is is correct, the world of D1 wrestling had better be prepared for the Hawks to be flying high and stopping at nothing short of a NCAA Team title next year.

Thanks wrestlers and coaches for a great year!

I think we've got good chances to get more points out of 133 and HWT next year than we did this year as well. You KNOW Ramos will be way better and Rasing stunk it up. I want to see an attacking Telford in there. Rasing did well at BTs but faced some lower seeds and got a bit of luck.

I see it being the Hawks and PSU next year.

The following year (McDs senior year)... in Des Moines, I don't think PSU will have a chance. Molinaro and Wade will be gone.
