Friday, Auburn coach Gene Chizik said the four players arrested Friday morning were “permanently dismissedâ€￾ from the team.
According to an Auburn Police Department statement, four people were arrested and charged with five counts of robbery first degree, one count of burglary first degree and one count of theft of property third degree.

The players are freshmen receivers Antonio Goodwin and Shaun Kitchens, senior safety Mike McNeil and freshman tight end Dakota Mosley.
“The players arrested in connection with this deeply troubling incident have been permanently dismissed from our football team,â€￾ Auburn coach Gene Chizik said in a statement. “While we realize the legal process will run its course and these young men have a right for their case to be heard, playing for Auburn University is an honor and a privilege. It is not a right.
“We hold our student-athletes to a high standard of conduct on and off the field as representatives of Auburn University, and this kind of behavior is not tolerated.â€￾
In the police report provided by the Opelika-Auburn News, five victims said one of the males displayed a handgun. Personal property was stolen and no injuries were reported, according to the statement.
Each of the four players are each being held at the Lee County Detention Center on $511,000 bond.
McNeil was sixth on the team in tackles with 56. Kitchens played in eight games, mostly on special teams, and had one reception. Goodwin played in 13 games, also mostly on special teams, but did not record a reception or tackle.

That bold part made me laugh. As long as we are not in a national title run, we hold our players to high standards off the field.

I wonder if that means they expect the players to give the boosters the money back.

We all know that SEC football and the south is populated with cheaters, con men, grifters and worse.

I'm always cautious though because some of our Big Ten brothern inc the OSU and Meechigan to name, just 2 aren't so clean, and pristine either.

Even the Hawkeyes aren't perfect... NOTE THE RECENT SI/CBS SPORTS article on top 25 and criminal records.

I really don't get calling out other programs or conferences on the message board when we are just one more arrest or scandal from being in the national news, again, for the wrong reasons.

I can make the distinction between public intox and armed robbery.

How about sexual assult/rape? Yeah that.

I never understand why people keep posting and making fun of other schools when this happens, sure most of issues with players here have been minor but let's not act like they all have been.

The post I was responding to was in reference to the recent SI/CBS Sports articles. No rape/sexual assaults in those articles, only 15 alcohol-related charges, two possession of a controlled substance, and one disorderly conduct charge. Yeah, those. No armed robberies, no burglaries.

Ill make fun of and post whatever i want. You can be serious and uptight all you want, thats what message boards are about.

Can you make the distinction between Public intox and rape and drug charges?

Not every topic will be your cup of tea. Are you suggesting that it should?

Aww c'mon y'all, it was just ONE gun, I mean how much damage can one gun do?

****not responsible for anyone that doesn't get the sarcasm here

hoffahawk- 2 things we need to learn

1) Quit being the fan base that constantly has it's nose pressed up against the big shot window trying to tear them down. Auburn won the national title so on this message board we have to attack them and hate them and talk about all of their evils. I get tired of the non stop SEC finger pointing when teams in our own conference are the ones currently in the news about violations.

see this article-

10 Most Corrupt College Athletic Programs | Associate Degree - Facts and Information

2) We also need to stop throwing stones when we are ranked by many in the media as a program with more than it's share of issues.

okay, now let the jihadic wing start the attack
how dare a fellow hawkeye fan think we aren't the greatest college sports program ever

Minnesota doesn't really count in this discussion, IMO. We're talking about football, and Minnesota's sanctions in the '90s were for basketball. Basketball recruiting is as dirty as PED's in cycling are rampant, regardless of conference.

Auburn is one of the most penalized football programs of all time. And that national championship was a DIRECT result of Cam Newton's performance, when he shouldn't have been eligible in the first place.

That's not jealousy. I want Auburn to get hit hard with sanctions, and Ohio State needs to be beat down, too. Programs that pull these kinds of stunts need to ACTUALLY be punished. I don't care what conference they're in.

If these kids had practiced harder and played a little better, they could have gotten in on the big Can Newton style money and not needed to resort to armed robbery.
