what if we played a similar style offense like northwesterns or oregons, more plays per game quickly....less time for defenses to rest and adjust....wear defenses out like ours was today....i know if we ran more plays faster against nw....we could work them over..........

Given the cluster-f*** that is our two minute offense, I hope we don't switch to a fast break system anytime soon. Also, we sometimes have trouble getting the play in with a 40 second play clock...I can't imagine this staff getting a play in and snapping the ball with 20 left on the clock. We're usually not out of the huddle yet by that time!

The day we start running an offense will be the day I consider rooting for another team (meaning neither will ever happen, thank God). That offense is a complete fraud, and less conducive to winning championships than a pro-style scheme with good defense.

tm, you don't even believe in the Oregon version? I know they pretty much got shut down tonight, but they've been very impressive most of the year.

To the OP, if we did that, we'd be a totally different team. Definitely different... it'd be hard to say if that would be good or bad, though. Most likely it'd result in a crappy NW version of it, and that would suck.

Not yet, I don't. Cal is the one and only good defense they've faced all year, and they looked pretty average. They played two good defenses last year, and scored all of 25 points combined in those two games. When they start looking like world beaters against good defenses, I'll believe in what they're doing. But up to this point, they've not proven anything except that they can p*ss on bad defenses.

Interesting take. Maybe we'll find out in the NC game. I know Auburn D sucks, but I don't think they'll make it. We'll see.

i think there is something to be said for pushing the pace when you have more depth on paper at least.....[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L6ZFhZVOx0]YouTube - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains) (Unstaged)[/ame]

I definitely hope Auburn doesn't make it. I personally would have liked to see LSU get in, as they do play good defense. But that's not happening now, so my hopes are left with Boise and TCU (not sure just how good their defenses are this year right now).
