And the expectations seem to lower......

First the NT game, now probably the Rose Bowl. Very hard to get to a BCS bowl game too. A non-BCS bowl game very likely. Of course you do the best you can and that would be winning out. However, we have seen this movie before. It is very disappointing not to be playing for more, especially with the expectations this year.

For me, what will make me the most happy is beating Ohio St (along with winning out). Beating those guys would be great. That said, we are probably a 7-5 to an 8-4 team in reality.

It is hard to take.

Look at whats ahead:

Msu, Pretty much a repeat of this game. Two power teams going at it.

Indiana: Air raid offense like no tomorrow, gave us major issues last year and if they do the same they could really dominate us.

Northwester: Pat Fitzgerald circles this game every year, they play like its the rose bowl and they have been beating us

OSU: Its OSU.

Minnisota, they suck.

The only certain win is Minni here. Would not be surprised to see us finish 2-3.

I don't think the expectations are lower for everyone. don't think everyone said NC or bust to start with.

i will restate what i've said in multiple posts. regardless of the goal- the focus has to be beating MSU this week.

The Rose Bowl is still in play, but the Hawks would need to run the table the rest of the way, and have Wisconsin and OSU both lose one more game.

Right now it's looking like the Cap1.

Let me get this straight. We would need to win out and Wisco needs to lose 1 more game. We would have the tie breakers over MSU and OSU right?

The Big Ten title and Rose Bowl are still in reach. Stop with the dumb mistakes and we'll win out.

If we win out we won't be tied with OSU and since we beat MSU we'd have the tie breaker. We need Wisconsin to lose. Odds are they won't. They have a pretty easy schedule but they have to go to Michigan and Northwestern can steal a game from anyone (and they beat Wisconsin last year).

I've lowered my expectations. I've personally witnessed both debacles this year and without having the complete offense/defense/special teams package you are not a contender. We are missing special teams for sure and questionable on D. I put us at 8 wins now.

If we win out OSU will not matter? they will have two losses (WISKY & IOWA) we only need wisky to lose a game. they need to lose @ Michigan, or in camp randall vs NW.

If I had to pick which team I'd rather play again next week.... @Michigan or Wisconsin @ Kinnick... I would take the game with Wisconsin anyday.

I bet Michigan beats Wisconsin in Ann Arbor.

Honestly, since we aren't making a BCS bowl game now I'd like to see us in the Champs Sports Bowl or Gator Bowl. Still in Florida and night games.

Yeah, thats right. I realized that as soon as I hit submit, but I'm too stubborn to go back and change it.

Iowa needs to run the table and have Wisconsin lose one more game.

Shada, you're a great poster and I respect you a lot but you really think Iowa can run the table with the deficiencies we have seen so far this year? We have five games left and except for Minny it's conceivable to lose the other four.

^this

they lost to NW late last year too, and they played Indiana to only a 31-28 victory. all teams they have left on their schedule including Purdue, who always plays better at home.

next week, after 4 very emotional games (@MSU, MINNY, OSU, @IOWA) watch out for a let down next week @PURDUE. I assure you that wisky will return to earth, they did last year versus NW, and they will again this year, patience my friends.

I think it is possible that Wisco will get beat again. The sad thing is, Iowa now looks more beatable more than ever and they have the hardest schedule left in the conference. And, even if Iowa wins out, sadly they may not a get a reward that is fitting for their efforts (if Wisco does not lose again).

I can't fathom a win out right now for us.

I agree. Just can't see Iowa winning every game against the like of MSU, OSU, Northwestern on the road. Heck, even Indiana is not a gimme. Only Minny looks like a sure thing----you would certainly think.

MSU, OSU, Northwestern, and even Indiana could have a field day with our defensive secondary right now. And, our terrible special teams is that terrible to keep all of these teams in the game. It is not hard to put points on the board when you can start from the 38-50 yard line.

And, if I was an opposing coach, I would just throw on Iowa. Heck, they don't blitz and why run at that line all game long when I know I can score on them through the air?
