Compare the 2004 Arizona State/IA matchup w/ the 2010 Arizona/IA

The heat and the start time are the only big comparisons I can see. Arizona's a good team, and there is a possibility that we'll lose. But I think that will all come down to how disciplined we play, and how healthy we can stay.

I think we'll be fine.

Norm didn't go to the game in 2004 because he was in the hospital. Kirk just stated he thinks Norm with not be with the team this week either.

Bad news again

That wasn't just DT's first roadie start: remember he had been a basket case emotionally in the 1st 2 games, not able to play in the 2nd half of the first game and needing IVs in the ISU game b/c of dehydration. He was not mentally prepared for that game. This is a deep, veteran squad we're sending down there, w/ tons of leadership and experience playing in tough stadiums (stadia?). These guys have played on bigger stages and against better competition than their counterparts.

UA may be on their way up, but they lack experience in tough, big games. They also had to replace 5 of their front 7 on D this year. That will not bode well against our ball-control O, w/ our ability to run betwixt the tackles.

I just can't get worried about this game.

I think the offenses are probably pretty similar...with the ASU offense being more vertical.

One big difference...all different players ;)

I was just thinking that and searching the archives to see if my notion was right...I remembered him not being there for that one either

Yeah, I am 100% positive Norm wasn't there in 04....I believe Ron Aiken called the defense that game if I remember correctly.

I was at ASU '04 and I have been to AZ stadium also. ASU was a ten times more intimidating place to play than against Arizona. The ASU student section jumped all over our backs it was loud and obnoxious that night.

That might depend on when you went to those stadiums. ASU was a Pac-10 contender with a Heisman contender at QB. Arizona's stadium may be at least close to that intimidating now that they have a pretty good team.
