"I grew up a huge Iowa fan," Vonnahme said. "You should see my basement, just completely decked out in Iowa stuff. But yeah, no, it definitely is sweet to beat Nebraska."

I can remember Joe Evans was a quarterback at Ames High School and chiseled out a pretty darn good career as a defensive end at Iowa. I believe now he is coaching D-line at Drake.

Pretty awesome to see the fruits of these kids' labor show out. It's what KF's program is built upon. Seeing the potential in athletes and building on it and putting those athletes on the field competing against 5 star talent and even having them play at the next level.

The next great pass-catching TE at Iowa. Excellent hands, good speed, decent quickness which showed on that stop-and-go route vs the Huskers. Add a few lbs and become an excellent blocker and that dude will make some serious cash at the next level. In the meantime, over the next 2 years, GET HIM THE ROCK!

I think we'll a resurgance of the TE position and use. Vonnahme, Ortwerth, Ostrenga (is he coming back?)...lots of talent. AND they all have tight end kind of names! LOL

Ostrenga has said he is coming back after the Achilles tear vs. ISU.

This is a nice article discussing the TE situation.

We haven't had a TE with over 300 yards receiving in a year since LaPorta graduated. Vonnahme is currently at 288 yds, so he should go over in a bowl game.

True freshman 4* Thomas Meyer has been ascending, and he got snaps in the last 3 games of the year (preserving his RS).
