2010-2011 Official Schedule

No national duals but at least we get a sweet dual w/ Southern illinois a team that would get beat by good high school teams. What a rip off. I hope Brands speaks about the no national dual decision in the near future.

WTF....Okie State at 2 in the afternoon on a Freyday? Was thinking very hard about going, but I'm not sure I can afford to take a day off right then. Ah well.

Here's the link to the TDR interview with Coach Brands on the decision not to attend Nat'l Duals. Scott Casber asks the reason and Tom responds:

"This year it's best for our team not to enter at this point. Now that might change in January. It might be the best thing to do in January."

Jan. 14, 2011, is a Friday. The road meet at Oklahoma State (Okie State in these parts) is, right now, scheduled for Jan. 14. That's the closest meet for me to go too. I already penciled in the Sunday meets in Iowa City, in hopes to make a weekender out of one of them.

The schedule linked has it as being on January 16th which is a Sunday.

chadfrey....if you show up Friday for a Sunday meet.......I'm guessing you can make a weekender out of it. :)

I'm really disappointed in the nat'l dual decision...even more so after hearing the explanation on TDR. Coach Brands seemed out of character; defensive, apologetic. I can't imagine him pulling the Hawks out of the duals because he thinks they might lose. That seems too contrary to the way he's competed and coached for the past 20+ years (i.e. no fear, don't back down). I keep thinking there's more to this than has been released. Any other thoughts?

Not to be a jerk, but from the linked new release:
"Iowa will also have road duals at Oklahoma State (Jan. 14 - 2 p.m.), Northwestern (Jan. 28 - 7 p.m.), Penn State (Jan. 30 - 2 p.m.) and Minnesota (Feb. 20). The Hawkeyes will face Purdue Feb. 11 (6 p.m.) at Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN."

The tabled schedule has Jan. 16. I checked OSU's site today, it has Jan. 16. Provided Jan 16 holds, I'll likely be going - despite it being the wife's birthday. :)

I saw it in the paper today it was January 14th, I can't imagine a 2pm Friday dual and I still think it has to be on the 16th, but maybe not.

We'll see. That was the press release. I think early on it was set for the eve of Jan. 14. It is possible they didn't get the release edited before it went out. Since both the table sched on Iowa and OSU's official sites have the 16th, I'm inclined to believe it will be the 16th.

Just curious - is anyone else thinking about the trip to Stillwater?
