Looks like the Clones acquitted themselves well in the end today. Up against a blue blood program, the deck is stacked against you - we Hawk fans know that all too well ourselves.
I didn't watch the full game, just the extended highlights. Looks like Oklahoma was well on their way to putting a classic ISU blowout show on in the first half, but the Clones showed some real grit and clawed back into the game and had a long shot chance at winning it in the end. If that had been the Hawks in the Big Ten championship game against OSU, I think we'd be very disappointed but proud to have made them sweat it out at the end.
As far as those all black unis go...not a fan. As a one time special kind of thing, fine, ok. But as a semi regular option? I don't like them. We are spoiled as I think Iowa's uniforms are among the best in college football. Yes, straight rip offs of the Steelers, but what a classic look. There is a reason neither Iowa or Pittsburgh shows any inclination to change that look, it really works. Now, ISU...they've had some really nasty getups over the years in my opinion, but they've hit on some winners, too. I actually really like their USC rip off look. That's another one that, yeah, it's an obvious rip off, but the look is so good and so timeless, I'm not going to lose sleep over it being a copy. But the all black? Bleach, don't like it. And it's not even a team color. Campbell forgot to call ahead and ask my opinion though, so whatever.
