BTN in town

I am sure Rob will be starting a BTN thread at some point, but I just wanted to mention that I biked past the OUTDOOR football field in a pouring rain this morning, and the players were whooping and hollering like nobody's business. I had to stop and peak through the cracks, and they were getting after it HARD in the downpour. Kinda fun to watch (I didn't stay long, I knew a manager would be coming by to tell me to leave soon if I did).

I bike on a bit further and see the BTN bus. That explained some of the energy, but also made me wonder how the BTN guys felt about being outdoors.

A couple of other thoughts:
  • Wirfs looks like an absolute beast. I saw him stone a few attempted pass rushers like a big brother pushing around his little brother. Wow.
  • I see the Hawks are working on the "rugby tackle" in the video posted by BTN above. I think most teams work on that anymore, but does anyone know when it become a point of emphasis for Iowa?

That's gotta be fun for those guys to practice in that for awhile. Their into like the 2nd or 3rd week of practice now right? They'll most likely have to play a game in that or worse down the road and without practicing in it like that how do you simulate it? So I totally get why they are out there in it at least for part of or most of practice.

Revsine. Kirk prob thinks is a good idea to practice in the rain. Going to have to play in aberrant weather at some point. Good rain to practice in.

A couple of Stanley things stand out:
  • He can toss the ball 40 yards like it's nuthin'

  • His touch seems greatly improved; most throws he seems to be putting on the money with only as much zing as needed

Damn this gets me fired up for football season. I'm more antsy now than I already was most of the month with preseason having already started in the pros.

I emailed the Big 10 Network on their FB page and they said Iowa's coverage will be 7p central time, I tune in only to see a replay of the Pin Stripe Bowl, geesssshhh!

and I would never consider beating Boston College in that lame ass bowl game an Iowa Classic!!!!

It's coming on at 8 central. They lied!

Does anyone look at the Big 10 Networks Face Book page? They post all these different stories about all the teams and all these fans from all the BIG schools just fight and insult each others teams. It's Ohio St, MSU and Michigan fans going at each other and Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin fans going at each others throats. Then you get a handful from the other schools. Since the Iowa football team is today's focus, Husker ad Badger fans are in full insult mode
