Fran "I'd play 13 guys if we had a game tomorrow"

Look at the box score from the game the other night. It is just not possible to get that many guys minutes. Moss was out with an injury and Baer barely played and Fran still had a tough time getting guys minutes.

I hope it won’t cost us a winnable game early in the season. It’s going to be a tough decision (likely benching a senior), but that’s why they pay Fran the big bucks.

It's ok against Grambling State - Fran typically keeps things on a shorter leash against more quality teams. I would guess it's more like a 9-10 rotation when it matters.

How many transfer after this year?

I don't think any. We only have 1 '18 and that's Joe W. And if Connor pans out at playing some pg and that allows JBo to play some sg, I wouldn't mind seeing JW redshirt. Uhl's a SR. Wagner, Baer and Ellingson will be SR's next season. I don't think anyone xfers.

We are also bringing in Frederick in next years class along with Joe.

Early games give Fran time to develop the best combinations.,,,,

Would be nice to substitute 3 players at a time with no loss of productivity, we should wear the opponents down. That's what happened to the Jewells Friday. They were gassed the last 10 minutes or so the other night. The combinations Fran was experimenting with, all seemed to work well. Of course, I realize that it was William Jewell, but is is good to have the time for development.....

I think that is wishful thinking to predict Fran to have a 9-10 man rotation at any point this season.

JBo
Moss
Baer
Cook
Garza

Connor
Ellingson
Nunge/Wagner - 3 or 4
Pemsl
Kriener

That’s probably still too many

I continue to say use defensive effort as the carrot for playing time to find your top 9 or 10. With all this depth lets go balls to the walls on defense guys. That has been our achilles heel the past 2-3 years.

I think he could RS just like Moss did. He could use a year in the weight room. That's just me. I ain't Fran and I ain't Joe.

The way the Iowa media talks about Joe - he's a starter day 1 as a freshman at Iowa. If he's THAT good... to take the 2 spot from multi year players in the program on day 1, I don't know how you can redshirt that.

could be. I'm just saying that he isn't likely to beat out a RS JR in Moss. So, do with Joe what he did with Moss and Jok. keep the pipeline going.

If there was a statistic on how may top 60 kids redshirted outside of for injuries or eligibility issues with the NCAA it would be extremely low. I’d imagine under 5% if not less.
