North Carolina committed no Violations

Precedent is set. Time to create some fake classes.
That's what I take away from it.... Open the flood gates. If that'd have been an Iowa, MN, Neb, good night Irene they'd have buried them for it. UNC I think is just too big to fail as the bluest of blue bloods. But now that they've ruled how they have they've set a precedent everyone can now abide by.

It's not like they got off scot free.

I've said this before and I still believe it to be true. Nothing will change until the NCAA is dissolved.

The thing is...what would cause the NCAA to dissolve? Us fans will still watch our teams. The NCAA will still make billions on the NCAA tournament. The schools will still make millions on tv rights deals. No schools are going to try to break away from the NCAA at this point because now they know what the NCAA can and can't prosecute them for.

I want it to happen as bad as anyone, but something has to drastically change to force it to happen and I'm not sure what that would be. Either the FBI will have to step in and start sending people to prison, or the fans will have to stop watching.

A degree from UNC simply doesn't hold as much weight as it used to.

Well, Duke is just down the road a piece.....

Rather serious academic competition for the Cheating Tarheels.....

And, Blue Devils is a much better nickname that Tarheels.....

Like most of you, I'm interested to see where the FBI investigation leads to. Has the NCAA been commiting illegal actions also? We shall see.

Spoke with a big UNC fan at the gym just awhile ago. He's glad that they found no violations, because "every school has been doing it for a long time."

Iowa's Dan Matheson, a former NCAA investigator and current head of U of Iowa Sport and Rec Management program, predicted this result last year.

Not because of some grand conspiracy to protect the NCAA's blueblood institutions, but because of the difficulty involved in investigating cases of academic fraud, especially those involving people who have already graduated or left the institution and can no longer be impelled to testify.

OK, so basically UNC is admitting there was academic fraud across the board. Perhaps a tuition paying parent should sue to get their money back for that class the little Joey took.

I know if I had a degree from UNC, I'd be pretty pissed that it doesn't mean shit anymore.

Well, at least now, god ole boy Roy (aw, shucks!) can still appear on ESPN and talk about how they do it the "right way" at UNC.
