Let's talk hoops

I like RK but he is not quick, and he imo is not capable of playing the 3 due to his lack of footspeed. In any case in that lineup Cook would certainly be considered the 3 before RK.

I liked what I saw from Kriener in the PTL but I actually still think there is a chance he is the odd man out again this year. He was behind Cook, Pemsl, and Wagner last year and they are all still around. We just brought in two bigs at 6’11 who have a couple of inches on RK. Kriener has certainly improved but if Garza is just flat out better, with their similar skill sets, minutes may be tough to come by for RK. Time will tell.

I really like Ryan's three. If he has the time to develop it, we will be in good shape. He does play aggressively. He can be quite versatile near the basket and is dangerous on fast breaks. At least that is the take I had watching him in the PTL He was playing with No Hesitation, plus JBo and he have a good relationship on the floor, same as Jordan and Isaish Moss. They play very well together.....

I still like the battle with Haas at Carver. He and Pemsl took the big boy to the floor and Nicholas blocked one of his shots. The Junkyard Dog Syndrome as Coach Calhoun mentioned a few times last season. We play with that intensity this season with Garza and Nunge on the team. Watch Out....!

Perhaps it is time to address the elephant in the room.....

No one has considered the option of Dom starting at the beginning of the season. His experience might tip the scales for Fran. There were times last season that he was a calming factor when the YoungHawks were sailing in turbulent waters. Dom is a good rebounder and defender and was instrumental bringing the ball across half court when needed, crossing the line with two long strides. He was definitely off scoring last season, but seemed to have regained his touch in the PTL. Quick release and quite comfortable shooting the three. I realize that PTL stats are tricky to analyze, but simply from an observers viewpoint, Dom looked good.....

Casually adjusting my flak jacket, sipping some Sumatran coffee with raw sugar, half and half, and of course, a shot of Myers Rum.....

A little over 2 weeks til the first exhibition game. Will you be getting BTN + to watch? Looks like several games are on there. I have a gig on Oct 27th - So i am hopeful that if I get the BTN+ subscription that I should be able to watch the replay of the game anytime. Or at least, I think I remember that being an option.

Is there any way Garza is starting at C from the word go?

Monday is media day for Iowa.
Would love to watch on BTN+, but after last year's experience with it... no way. The quality was horrible. Games got cut off before they were over and sometimes they didn't start the stream until the game was well into the 1st half.

I cancelled and got a refund. Never again.

hmmm... I didn't have that issue...and for $10, I don't know how upset i could be if it didn't.

Personally, I think Dom peaked his first year here. Haven't seen any improvement from him since. He's still the same player he was.
Not a good passer.
Shot is way too flat.
Always wants to drive the ball into trouble.
If I were FM, I would've Creaned him long ago.
I don't hate him, I just think he doesn't bring much to the table when he's in the game.

IMHO.

I was upset cause I wanted to watch the GD games.:mad:

yeah, I do get that... and I have had some streams crap out on me over the years. I guess my point is this... the streams actually have been better every year as technology starts to increase. For a measly $10 for 4 or 5 games, I would give the advice to go in with a different attitude of "never again" ...but that's just me. I hope you get a way to watch them with out it.

haha - honestly, it could have been your laptop or something. If you have a smart phone - it couldn't be easier. Get a chromecast for $15-$20 - get the B1G2GO app on your phone - pair em up and you're watching. It really has been that slick and easy for me the last few years. I personally like when it's ESPN3 rather then BTN if I HAVE to stream a game.

Fran said "very high" when asked what the expectations should be for freshmen Luka Garza and Jack nunge.

I'll make this short and to the point. Most on here are sleeping on Pemsl!

I actually don't think that is the case. We just have so many good players to talk about. If Pemsyl was injured last season; I can only imagine what he'll be like this season. We have an army of talent. Fran has completely reversed our make up. He learned that going with the really, really skinny guys is ok, but you get beat up down low in the B1G and become too perimeter oriented. Now, we've got post players all over the place, but they can all also step out and hit a mid-range jumper, at minimum. We're going to be really dangerous in '18-'19 when Cook and Pemsl are JRs.
