We finished 3 games out of first place and ended up getting the 5 seed in the conference tournament. I guess I won't agree with you that we contended because we were hot early on.

Contention is all about having a chance to win towards the end of the season not how they finished... Iowa blew it and lost out in the end, doesn't mean they weren't close to winning it. And you wonder why people think you're a troll...

I agree with Moss being on his breakout list anyway.. But yeah Nunge is going to be quite the X factor for us. It'll be interesting to see how much he plays early on. The more the better I hope with less of Uhl...

We certainly contended two years ago, the problem is we swept MSU and Purdue early and they didn't end up being the best teams, and we still had to play Maryland, Indiana twice and Wisconsin. Everyone kind of thought Indiana would fall back to earth after they had to play the tough teams at the end of the year, instead they went 4-1 against Iowa, Maryland, Purdue and MSU down the stretch, so they were legit the whole time once they had a chance to prove it. Wisconsin (who did beat Indiana) ended up being the second hottest team in the league by the time we played them also, and they were overlooked by fans because they lost a couple of bad non-conference games and had the coaching change. Both those teams and Maryland made it to the sweet sixteen, MSU and Purdue were one and dones. Iowa never really collapsed at all, turned out the competition just got even better as the season went along and we ran out of gas because the entire conference season was brutal start to finish. Granted we could've won at Happy Valley, but that was actually one of Indiana's few losses too. Tough place to play for us, always has been, and I expect to lose there again this year. Had we gotten six games against the bottom four teams like last year's got instead of the minimum four like we did, we'd probably have at least shared the title.

1. they don't play in the East, so who cares. It's dumb to say, it's dumb to think about. They beat 2 top 25 teams in 15 and also had a decent win against Pitt. That's fairly on par with most good teams resumes every season. They also beat Michigan last season. Don't act like it's all been smoke mirrors because it hasn't been. I get that there are tougher schedules in the country and tougher divisions, but let's not act like they beat nobody either ok? It's dumb to insinuate other wise and you just sound like a troll.

2. Fran isn't continually finishing in 4th, 5th or 6th. He just finished top 3 for 3 years in a row, then took a team full of freshman and sophmores that were picked by most to finish 10th or higher and got them to finish 5th and a game from making the dance.

3. If you expect Iowa to routinely win 10+ games like you're suggesting to be satisfied, I'm sorry, but 100's of years of history are working against you and your expectations. KF is going to leave Iowa as it's most winning coach in school history. Not excepting 6-6 or 7-5 seasons is unrealistic at every school in the country besides what maybe 5? That's ridiculous. It's dumb... and also - Iowa has finished better then 6-6 and 7-5 in 3 of the last 4 seasons - the outlier season? 7-5.

haha, yeah, I am not carefully reading everything I write to make sure the grammar is correct for Hawkeyenation. That's ridiculous on a website that I spend a couple of minutes a day writing up quick replies and most of the time from my phone. The site crashes half the time or takes me to some sort of virus, so I am lucky to even get a couple of words out as it is. I am also not a big enough loser to call people out on it. I like to make fun of people who say dumb sh*t about Iowa coaches that isn't even remotely true, so I guess you get off on what you get off on.

About 1 in 10 posts I make on here the site crashes my phone, making it incredibly stupid to give 2 cares about grammar or spelling. But nice work on calling out someone for it while being equally as bad "Speedo's"

Well maybe he thought you were a little rough on me and he didn't appreciate it. I've been on this forum for a loooooong time. Anyone who has been on here as long as I have been knows that I have FULLY supported the coaching staff. Greg Davis was a true test of my patience. I wish nothing but the best for the coaches, the players, and their families.

They also know I don't hurl out personal insults towards others when they have a difference of opinion. Some people appreciate honest opinion. At this point I definitely am not totally satisfied with the program. Under GD it was all I could do to resist being extremely critical of his offense. It was the hardest thing to watch. Also I am not a young pup anymore and I would like to see Iowa play in a national championship before leaving this world. I am just angry now that I realize that Kirk is not likely to get us there. I am not saying it's impossible but it's not likely to happen. Unless his son brings something new to the table it's just not likely to happen. So I am ready for some new blood IF Kirk can't change things up enough to get us there. If Brian comes out and runs the same ole same ole I will be besides myself.

I know I am not the only one who feels this way including former players who have played under Kirk. They have told me so and say other players have expressed similar feelings. I also know a few other things that I don't care to express on a public forum that they have told me. I still support having him at Iowa as long as he moves upward like Fran is doing with the basketball program. We will see what he does with Brian running the offense. Of course I want nothing but the best for him, his family, the players and the fans. Would be great to play for all the marbles just once. That's all I am asking. Unless something changes and soon it's not likely to happen. Would be greatly pleased a championship title and a rosebowl victory. We have the facilities, we have the fan base and an experienced coaching staff and I believe it can happen.

well, first off, let me apologize BigD. I am sorry if I was rough on your opinion that Iowa finishes in the middle of the road year after year after year after year. I just felt like that wasn't really an "honest" opinion or "calling it like it is" because both the football team and hoops team have had better recent results. I will say that I am honestly sorry. I don't like to throw insults either but this board makes it tough sometimes because so many dumb things get tossed out. I think "dumb" is a softball comparatively speaking tho, but all the same, I shouldn't have called you it. I am sorry.

I would love Iowa football to play for all the marbles just once... fact is, our current coach, just got us 30 seconds and a yard away from it just a full season ago. I wouldn't exactly say that it's NEVER gonna happen with Kirk when he literally just almost did it. I understand your frustration tho and I certainly don't think the coaching staff at Iowa are infallible. I am just a pretty big fan of both our hoops and football coaches. I think we got 2 pretty good ones that coach good, clean programs and have both shown they can have success here. While I want more, I don't typically wish that kind of thing away.
