One last drink of Kool-Aid

Well it's PTL season and a little kool-aid drinking does the body good. Check this out.

The 2018-2019 Iowa Hawkeyes are the 2016-2017 Golden State Warriors.

JBo (Steph Curry) - This one is pretty self explanatory. Lights out shooter, who can shoot off the dribble. Hopefully as a junior JBo will have developed his ability to drive.

Baer (Draymond Green) - This is your junkyard dog type of player who does the little things. Both guys block a lot more shots than you'd expect from a 6'7 player.

Weiskamp (Klay Thompson) - 6'6/6'7 shooting guards who play under control and can shoot. Hopefully Joe is a lockdown defender?

Nunge (Kevin Durant) - 6'11 players with skills of a guard. I think Jack will really benefit from an offseason of working on his explosiveness and could dominate as a soph.

Williams (Shaun Livingston) - 6'7 PGs who can be matchup issues. Maybe CW will have a mid range game by then?

Moss (Andre Iguodala) - transition player, and defender.

Whats crazy about this list is it doesn't include Tyler Cook, who will likely be our best player. Okay that was fun, and not totally serious so don't hold me to it.

He was listed 6' 5" when he got to Iowa - has he grown or just the legend?

I believe one of our coaches have been quoted as saying he's 6'6/6'7. I certainly don't have the quote. There was a photo that surfaced last year where he appeared taller than Wagner who is listed at 6'7. Someone recently said he looked taller at PTL than they remember.

The post was meant for fun and not really too serious so I'm going to steer clear of 56's feeble troll attempt.

He's listed at 6'5" this year so he's 6'5" plus he's not really even a PG. If correcting you makes me a troll I guess I'm a troll!

If you're trying to say we will be good enough to coast to an NBA Championship, I agree.

Is or will Tyler Cook be our best player? To this point I'm not totally sold until he gets a mid range jumper. I like the list, though. Intriguing.

Don't worry, I'm not getting that granular as the others. Close enough for me for you to make your point.

Hell he might not even be our best power forward. Pemsl was probably just as productive last year and turns out he was hurt. Cook is definitely our most flashy player tho.

Agree. I guess that's how I probably look at him, Flashy. But, I think he has work to do for an overall game. Pemsl may be a bit ahead at that point.

I don't know where I'd rank Cook on our team last year. Probably 3 or 4.

IMO I expect him to be our best player this year and going forward. I expect a 14/15PPG 7/8RPG type of player this season. If that doesn't happen than I think we will be a little less successful than some are hoping. I'm a firm believer that every team needs a go-to type guy, and if not Cook who would that be?

The Pemsl comment is interesting. Yes they were probably equal last year but IMO Pemsl is probably as close to his ceiling as a Bball player as any on our team, and that's fine, he's going to be a very good player for us the next four years. The injury thing is already being overplayed, CP said himself once he got it loose he was fine, it just required more stretching before and was painful the next day. Those of you expecting him to come back much more athletic I think are in for a bit of disappointment. Cook on the other hand is just scratching the surface of what he can be as a player and that's why I expect so much improvement this year.

I think Fran was quoted as saying people are going to be surprised at how athletic Pemsl really is. I know he likes to talk up his players with exaggerations but I don't think he just makes stuff up. If the injury didn't affect his athleticism last year, that means Fran just made that up for no reason. I don't see that happening.

Cook will be our best PF. Yes, Pemsl has more developed skills, basically because he had to as a less athletic player than Cook. But Tyler has more upside for that very reason and is more difficult to guard by more teams. Yes, I believe Pemsl may come back from injury a little more spry. But if he returns with anywhere near the springs that Cook has, I'd like to bottle what he's drinking before it gets banned.

Completely agree Cook has way more upside.

When you watch Pemsl from last season, what impressed me the most was his composure.
Not many freshman bigs have the self-discipline to remain calm enough to shoot the high FG%'s he shot last year.
He's on track to become an All B1G player!

I'm going to preface this by saying I like Cordell Pemsl. I think he's a good player with a lot of heart. He has a role on this team and come his senior year could be a key cog in the Fran Machine. That said, I believe Tyler Cook has a better upside and here's why.

IMHO Pemsl excelled last season because of who was feeding him the ball. Pemsl and JBo spent the better part of two years playing AAU ball together. Cook got injured at about the same time Fran started looking around to see who else could play the point because at the time Williams wasn't getting the job done.

Enter Pemsl (for Cook) and JBo (for Williams). Since they had played together for 2 years, they knew what to expect from each other. They knew where to go so the other would find them. Both of them had break-out years, if you can say that about freshman.

Cook, however is more athletic and scored more points in 7 less games. Yes, Pemsl played most of the year hurt, I understand that. But looking back on it, I believe Cook's motor and athleticism will take him farther than Cordell.

Who knows, maybe I'm wrong about Pemsl's motor and he'll turn it up a notch. I hope that's the case as it can only help the team.

Just my 2¢ .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

Cook just looks like the part and is more offensively skilled.

Pemsl just doesn't look like a player but you can't argue with the numbers, specifically how efficient he was shooting such a high %.

I put Pemsl and Wagner in a similar boat. Guys like Cook, Nunge and even Kriener have a more skilled offensive set but Pemsl and Wagner bring intangibles like attitude and hustle, plus Wagner is a freak athlete.
