Dayton's Archie Miller Takes Indiana Job

Uh oh. Archie Miller is not one of the people I wanted to see get the job, but It is better than Frank Martin or Chris Mack or Mark Few. Those guys are winning big at schools that have no business being as good as they are. Archie is a good coach though who really teaches fundamentals and his teams usually come together defensively. He has never been the head man of a roster full of blue chip players though and that is most often the downfall of mid major coaches. They get to the big program and can't get the talent there (won't be a problem at Indiana) or they can't get the talent to buy in and play team ball. There will be challenges ahead, but I think Archie has a shot to be a really decent coach at Indiana. Here's to hoping he fails...cheers!

Not impressed. Why the heck force out a guy who has 2 B1G titles in the last 5 years to get Archie Miller?

I love that the Indiana fans have turned that place into Nebraska football.

Lol because they think they would of had 5 in 5 years if Crean didn't get every star player hurt.

He will have a lot of talent to work with. Hopefully, a couple of the Indiana players will turn pro. There should be some announcements pretty soon from some of the conference teams.

Archie has done alot at a school with little in the way of facilities and money. He's no longer going to have one or two elite D1 players on his roster, he's going to have 7-8 or so. He won't stand for any crap about being lazy or not disciplined...you won't play. This was a good hire for the B10...but bad for other B10 teams.

The firing didn't make any sense, either.

Crean has had 4 injuries to rotational players lasting 5 or more games over the last 3 seasons. Miller has had 0. The Indiana fan base grew tired of throwing seasons away because critical players keep getting hurt. There is no doubt Crean is a good coach. He needs to scrap his strength program and his conditioning methods. He will find a new home soon.

Injuries are directly attributable to the strength and conditioning program?? Child please..........

So watching the Indiana team with three first round draft choices get hammered and look completely lost against the Syracuse zone was injury related? Ok. I thought it was that he had his team poorly prepared and poorly coached.

Not directly, but maybe you remember a not so distant past were Iowa did something to piss off the football God now known as Airbhg. It just so happened that the RB coach was offered to Airbhg as a sacrifice to his greatness and presto! RB's stopped dropping like flies. Coincidence? Maybe. My comment however was merely an echo of the perspective of some Indiana threads that I had read recently. Sure there was plenty of Crean is just garbage posts, but that isn't really what I think. So I found the reasoning that ongoing injury issues had caused the fan base and administration to lose faith in him, to be interesting. Also saw some posts about how Crean used the injuries as a crutch and played the poor me card with boosters ever since Maurice Creek. It's cool if you don't buy it.

Ok. Understood.

Ummm that Syracuse team had 3 kids drafted as well. With another 5 in the NBA D league. I don't think Indiana was more talented at all. Michael Carter Williams was the best player in the gym and that's why Syracuse won.
