Thought this old article from TIME magazine Monday, Nov. 07, 1960 might give all some perspective of where Nebraska has been.

Here are quotes from the article: "In its recruiting competition with the Big Eight, the Big Ten operates under one severe handicap: its prospects must go through the indignity of proving financial need before they can get a full scholarship."
AND
"Out of this flurry of activity the Big Eight this season has produced at least three players who can butt heads with any in the nation: CJ For Iowa State, Tom Watkins is a lightweight Negro fullback (6 ft., 182 Ibs.) who can run the 100 in 9.8 and fill in at tailback in his team's old fashioned, single-wing attack."http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,826715,00.html

If true that was the fastest player (negro or not) to ever play fullback on any team as Usain Bolt's record time at Bejing was 9.69.

It's 100 yards, metric wasn't part of the conversation here in the 60's. I had an HS classmate run it in 10.0, which wasn't super unusual.
