As Deace likes to say 'you can't hide your qb in college football' Although you can hide them more so in college then the pros. I agree that from what little of Weigers we've seen he doesn't have that 'it' that CJ has. Now I'll be the first to say it's not fair to peg him just yet as he's never started a game yet. So we'll just have to see. He is in the driver seat to start next year anyway... I like what Stanley brings to the table based only on what little I've heard but a RS Frosh starting over 2 or 3 other upper classman would be a heck of a deal for KF to do... But this is new Kirk so may the best QB play and see what happens. More and more younger QBs are being handed the reigns out there.

There is no 'newkirk'. God, you guys never give up. KF has always played the QB who is 'best prepared' to play and grades out the best in practice. That's the way it works kids. Who did you 'hear' about Stanley from? Wiegers came in with more credentials and accolades than Stanley does, but you, in your infinite wisdom, determined that Wiegers doesn't have 'it' (whatever that means) and Stanley, who has 3 practices under his belt (that you've never seen,lol) should overtake Wiegers....You're a hoot.

If you have a excellent run game and a good defense (which they should next year), Wiegers and the Hawks will be fine. Oh, and EVERY coach wants a QB who is a 'game manager' to some degree.....In American football, a game manager is a quarterback who, despite relatively poor individual statistics such as passing yards and touchdowns, performs well enough to win games. Game managers often benefit from strong defense and rushing offense on their teams. Terry Bradshaw and Kenny Stabler (to name a few) were considered 'game managers'....Nothing wrong with a 'game manager' as 'special QB's' are far and few between.....
Do you really think you're that much better than everyone else or is this just an act? All fans have 'gut feelings' about players for whatever reason. Just like you have about Bower starting. No need to belittle other people for doing the same thing you do.
A game manager is a bad/ok QB that plays on a really good team that wins a lot. If a QB that is labeled a game manager goes to a different team that sucks, that said QB would cease to be a game manager.

To address your first statement do you really feel that's the case? Even after the JR/CJ back and forth? I don't think that's how he came to picking CJ in January just 2 wks after the bowl game.. There's more to it then some analytic number crunching so there's goes your argument to that. And yes Wiegers came in with more hoopla from the star raters. And there is are simple reasons for that. Stanley went to a smaller school in Wisconsin. Wiegers was from a burb in Detroit. Stanley did not go to any camps after having attended and committing to Iowa in June going into his SR yr. He shut down his recruitiment essentially and other schools/ coaches didn't go after him too hard till late. Wisconsin tried their best but he stayed with Iowa. But unlike you I'm not making any bold declarations. I'm just saying 'don't be surprised if he were to push for pt' I believe was my quote. I never said I thought for sure he'll start day 1 next yr. That's you incorrectly reading between my lines.
As far as your rant about 'game managers' I can only assume you were in camp JR then and not happy about CJ getting promoted the way that went down. Because wouldn't JR fit that title to a T and CJ not so much? Look being a game manager isn't in and of itself bad at all. But if you have someone that can be more than that....

Totally agree. At first I found it annoying, but I am enjoying it now. I liked that he challenged conventional thinking in the FE thread if he truly believed in what he was saying who knows. Clearly, he is a knowledgable fan, like you I don't mind playing along.

The answer to your first question is yes....I don't have a 'gut' feeling about Bowers I'm giving you an informed opinion based on my knowledge of the coaches and players. I don't deal in or care about 'gut' feelings, especially from 'fans' who don't have enough knowledge or information to even offer an opinion. I only insult posters who insult coaches and players.
