Glad that Jon and Deace discussed the lackluster production quality of the BTN tour. Compared to the effort the network put into the tour when it first was introduced, what we have seen the last couple of years is woefully lacking.
I get that it's a question of costs and that the BTN knows it will have the money rolling in due to the subscription revenue, but doesn't the network care about the quality of the product it puts out there? I am very pleased with the quality of the game broadcasts for football and basketball, but the skimping on everything else (with exception of "The Journey" episodes for football and basketball) hurts the network and the B1G brand. The pre-season tour of each team set the network apart when it first launched. No matter if you were a fan of OSU or Indiana, you got an hour or 90 minutes of nothing but an in-depth focus on YOUR team. They actually showed significant portions of 7 v 7 or 11 v 11 drills, and had longer (5+ minutes) interviews with the head coach and coordinators.
Revsine, Dinardo and Griffith are good. They get to focus on just 14 teams rather than 120+, so they get the chance to know each team in-depth. But we get to see very little of what they think about each team. Overall it's just a miss to set the conference and the network apart.
