Do you ever feel like a bandwagon fan?

Because no matter how you try you just don't give a crap about Iowa Football anymore.

My interest level has steadily decreased since the 2011 season and I just can't help it. It was probably the Greg Davis hire that really made me lose interest. What a terrible hire. I think if you polled Iowa fans before that hire most would have wanted to keep O'Keefe rather than replace him with Davis. We expected a fresh new exciting OC, but we got someone who was less exciting than KOK was. How depressing.

I still watch the games on TV or listen on the radio... most of them anyway. I've only been to Kinnick a handful of times since 2011. A lot of that has to do with the neutering of the atmosphere in IC that started around 2005 and has continued for the last 10 years. It's just not the same as it was. And it's not because I'm old. Things have changed. But not only that... it's the team. I'm not too excited to go to IC and watch a lower tier Big Ten team. I'll watch at home and then get on with my Saturday.

I would love for the Iowa to rise again. As they did in 2002... and to some extent in 2009. But it's gonna be awhile... hopefully 3-5 years after Ferentz finally gives it up. Or possibly if they fire Greg Davis and bring in someone who can bring about the change Iowa needs... in that case, maybe Ferentz could get it going again.

Nope. I was at every game in 2012. Team sucking doesn't make me less of a fan. Maybe not as exciting, but still a fan.

I've never felt like a bandwagon fan but I also have no issue with blasting the program when it deserves to be. I've heard many "true Hawkeye fans" say that they only support the team so in their eyes I probably am a bandwagon fan...

I plan on watching every game this season and beyond but I will say that the program has become very boring to watch. Similar to Lick-ball a few years back. I watch but I don't get excited like I used to.

No.

I bleed black and gold...will always be a Hawkeye. When I find myself feeling like it's futile... that's worse than the frustration. But I will always be a fan. The University of Iowa is bigger than any one coach or player. or... President.

That's why the current state of the football program pizzes me off so much, and I post about it. Where else are you gonna vent?

Nope. I was able to move down and sit court side during some games when little Lick started. I hope that's as low as it will ever get for me for Iowa sports.

Sorry, but no. I have been going to home games since 1962. I have season tickets now. I'll keep going to the games, because it is fun (win or lose) and it is Big Ten football. I do, agree, however, that it is very hard to get excited about Kirk Ferentz as our coach right now or even take him seriously. I think he has lost his way......

You are right. Vent as much as you want. The people who buy the tickets and pay to go to the games have every right to complain when the team doesn't do well. My only thought is that it is more than acceptable to be critical of the coaches and administration, but I try not to criticize the players. They are just kids playing a high pressure, demanding, time-consuming, dangerous sport (I have never seen you criticize players, so I'm not calling you out; I'm just making a general observation)

I agree.

I think many misunderstood the criticism of Ferentz for sticking with Jake... as an attack on Jake. Though some certainly veered into that lane...guys that think they're at an NFL game...for the most part people were upset that Ferentz would stubbornly stick with Rudock when C.J. showed so much promise in an area that Jake didn't...an area the team badly needed to exploit. Going down field.

One game last year, you could hear rumblings like "play CJ" when Jake wasn't going downfield. A guy in our section shouted "Ruduck is a great kid...give it a rest". I think the response "Yeah. And so is Beathard, give him his chance"...said it all.

Everybody is different. I'm just frustrated because the last 2 or 3 years the league has been there for the taking and not only has Iowa not won the west but really wasn't even in the running. Not even close. Last yr Iowa should have won 9 games. No less. Not living up to not just my expectations pre season but looking at the opponents after the fact with hindsight just makes it worse. I felt like the players that were out there were capable of playing good football. Plenty good enough to win 3 or 4 more games then they did. Be it strategy play calling overall coaching you name it it's not a good enough reason to me...

No. never a bandwagon fan concerning the Hawks. A pisssed off fan if we lose to teams we shouldn't, or crap away leads, yes. But never a bandwagon fan.

I will watch every single game, hope for the best, probably get angry, then rinse....repeat.

Never a bandwagoner. I was at a very impressionable age of 7-8 during the late 50's to early 60's power football and top flight basketball. My mom and dad were fans and I am a diehard fan. I used to miss night lab classes to go to Bball games or even watch some on tv. Pretty stupid to get a B in a course when your tests should lock you up for an A but that is how bad it was. I still love to go to Kinnick and watch on TV. It is an outlet for me and I like all kinds of sports.

But the football offense has been really boring the last few years. I have sold my tickets or given them to friends the last two times ISU came into town because one I have come to believe that the way KF gets his team ready for that game the hawks come out and play some of their worst, most boring football of the year. So no I am on the hawkeye wagon full speed ahead.

You're probably not a bandwagon fan so much as you're getting older and your priorities have changed some. I had season tickets for years then got married and had kids. There are some things more important now. I listen and watch whenever I can but I don't set my schedule to Iowa football like I used to. I still get mad at bad play calling and stupid mistakes but I don't let it ruin my weekend any more. "That football"

Never have and never will be. I'm a Iowa Hawkeye fan and that won't ever change. I can and do have issue at times with who is leading my beloved team but they won't ever come between my love for the IOWA HAWKEYES!!!! EVER!

Note: I think the term Bandwagon is stupid.. Either you are a fan of a team or you are not..

Yep, I missed more games while my kids were young and before they started going to games with me. But at the same time my wife worked every other saturday back then when the kids were young and when the hawks were at home and she did not have to work she told be to go to the games to get a break from the routine. Really my priorities for those 6-7 saturdays during the season havent changed much as I like to watch or go to the games.

I had to be talked into renewing just one ticket for me this year so my buddies could get their 3 tickets. Going to kinnick and even watching on tv is not must do entertainment for more and more fans.

I think shifting priorities captures a big segment of the fan base that's going sour...particularly the folks that drive in from far enough away that it's an overnight or at least a sunrise to late nite day. They'll watch the Hawks and cheer for them, but the time, money and energy expended to get to Kinnick just isn't worth it.

When I drop the coin to roll down from Minneapolis and do an overnight...sometimes two...I expect a great product in return. The worse it gets...the more likely I am to stay home and catch the game on TV, maybe with some Hawks fans at a watch site...have my weekend free and re-purpose the funds. We can take some pretty sweet weekend trips with an extra $3,000 every fall.

I went from 4 to 2 tickets this year, with a note to Barta that this would be my last year unless something significant changed by renewal time next Spring. He, Sally and KFz have killed the product that people loved to buy.

Speaking for myself.

I was here before Ferentz and I will be here long after we kick him to the curb.

I grew up with Iowa. I graduated from Iowa. Iowa is MY school. Kirk Ferentz is nothing but a hired hand whose so called love and loyalty to the program evaporates the minute he's no longer employed here.

After the 2102 season I had seen enough and dumped my season tickets after 19 straight years. Beyond that I've gone to more road and bowl games than I can even count.

The only game I went to in 2013 was the infamous Wisconsin game. Between the product on the field - we spent the entire first quarter in Badger territory only to come away with 3 points - the ret@rd Delta Dental Smile Cam, ridiculous Panchero's Burrito Lift and the 80's 8 track music I decided I wouldn't set foot again in Kinnick tell Ferentz was gone.

2014 was the first time I had not gone to at least one home game since I was 10 years old.

The term "bandwagon" was invented by the compound dwellers whose sole purpose to being a fan is being kicked in the @ss only to continually bend over and ask for another. I weep for how pathetic one must be to think it's their job and duty to take every bit of idiocy and ineptitude one school or organization can dump on a fan base and keep coming back for more and delighting in it.

Its offseason and there is not much hype around the program. Come August we will all be jacked up for some hawkeye football. Those first two games against both ISU's will determine my interest in the season. Must wins IMO

Jesus you carry the heavy cross for all of us. Glad you chose this duty, keep up the good job.
