This is a great read. Very short and concise. And spot on.
Well the only way Jake will be successful in Ann Arbor is if Harbaugh can readjust his internal clock for getting rid of the football. If anything, I think Harbaugh can do it. He still has to be able to identify the vertical receiver that is open, and commit to the throw. It's something he struggled with at Iowa.
Now, having 3-4 great RB's like Michigan always has, is also going to help Rudock if he starts. A good running game does wonders for your passing game and shields your QB from having to carry your offense. Against good teams, our running game barely had a pulse and the QB had to be the difference maker. For this reason, I'm not sure Schwartz's conclusions are as simple as he suggests.
I somewhat agree with the Schwartz article. However, JR might have better skill players to work with at Michigan and thus skew his value if he does quite well. Although Michigan has not really been Michigan for some time so he could produce comparable results there compared to Iowa. He may even perform better because he is one year older and wiser.
No, with Iowa it will come down to line play on both sides of the ball as it usually does. CJ has the arm, but is going to need the protection. The line will also need to give the time for our WRs to make it down the field. CJ maybe the MVP, but the line play is the key to the season. Oh ya.....there is also the coaching to consider as well....cough, cough, forward laterals on kickeroff returns, onside kicks, not knowing how to use timeouts, throwing short of the marker, etc.
Bored and waiting on a flight so I read another Schwartz piece against my better judgement. He starts out by saying the game is more than one player, then proceeds to say how 1 guy in three different scenarios will tell a great deal. Never mind the other 21 starters on each team that are either new, or a year older.
Note to self... Resist giving that guy clicks
Here's a line I've heard somewhere else...and it makes no sense.
>"One can only let himself be jerked around so much"<
How in the hell does that apply to Rudock?! He reatained the starting job despite his obvious limitations and the fact that CJ clearly had better physical tools...something that was evident to everybody from ESPN broadcasters, to Jon Gruden to the old lady 2 rows in front of me. (never mind thousands of other Iowa fans who watched every game last year)
Despite that Kirk kept him as the starter. How is he the victim? I'd argue just the opposite...he was protected longer than he should have been.
Only time will tell if Goldie Locks will be the answer. If he is a fail and Rudock fails at Michigan what do we learn from that result? Iowa recruiting sucks at the skill positions? That's never crossed my mind how about yours?
The article makes no sense whatsoever.
I am dumber for having read it.
