Spring Football at Iowa

We think Jake is gone.... And I do too. However he won't be leaving till after spring ball when he graduates right assuming we are reading the tea leaves correctly as you pointed out he's not working out with most of the team (he's working out with seniors is what i've heard) and the going to Michigan rumors. So what if CJ gets hurt in spring....? That is a possible monkey wrench waiting to happen... But if it did Rudock may end up staying who knows....

I don't think the two of them can be together. While I've wanted CJ as the QB since game one of this year, I do not dislike Jake. He just isn't consistent enough for this team to get over 7-8 wins and realistically compete for the division. Yes he played well against WI...for a half....but he pretty much cost us the game against NE in that first half....and was poor in the 2nd half.

With all of that, I think the bowl prep was really **** poor management/coaching by this staff. While I don't think Jake should start, he was the starter and to just pull him out of the role, and then audition in that train wreck of a bowl game was a joke.

Both QB's should transfer the way they've been treated by KF.

If they both are on the squad in the fall, I just don't see it being good for the team.

I look forward to seeing spring ball a lot this year. I think some position groups will be a pleasant surprise. I think guys on the offensive line will be ready to step up. The linebackers will be much improved as sophomores. Position battles at safety and CB will be hotly contested again. This will be a fun group to watch.

I'm starting to get excited for football again. Am I positioning myself for an epic fail again this year.

We're on the second page and not one poster has commented about how stoked they are to see the coaches coaching new positions. I'd disappointed.

To be fair I did say I was looking forward to seeing linebacker play. While I did not mention the coach specifically that is part of it.

I've got the over/under at Game #4 this fall as to when some posters here begin to clamor to see Wiegers.

Unless we play ISU in game 4, I'll take that bet.

The beauty of losing to them this season is that most will only blame KF, not KF AND JR. Simplifies navigation on this forum...

I'm looking forward to seeing if anyone can challenge Matt Vandenberg at Punt Catcher. Not sure who our 1st Team 3 Yard Out Route Catchers will be....just have to see what shakes out I guess.

Are you predicting we lose to them this year. I understand that as the offseason has shown a tremendous jump in their program.

Not just them. I'm predicting 0-12. I've got Playmaker, Arvada and a host of others to back me up on that.
I have a feeling you'd find a few people here that would like to place a bet on that. Somehow I feel like you're a little down on the Hawkeye program but 0-12 is a little ridiculous. What if they shocked the world and went 10-2. Would you still be hating on the team. Every year has new opportunities. Usually I subscribe to the theory of past results predict future results. I'm predicting the Hawks to go 7-5 and with a break 8-4 this year.

I'm super Stoked to see our Solon kicker this year.
He was one of the BRIGHT Spots for Hawkeye FB, in 2014.

Marshall Koehn looks strong and has settled in as IOWA Kicker.

I guess I continue to look at it through rose colored glasses. You realize that four of our losses were by a combined 15 points. If for no other reason our linebacking corps will be better because of a year of experience. And we will have running backs instead of fullbacks running the ball on a regular basis. Our offensive and defensive lines will be a mixed bag this year as there is some experience but also a number of new faces. And, according to many, our QB will be better. I'm hoping that the meeting our coaches went to with the Green Bay staff will lead to a few changes in the offense; not to say that that our offense will be as proficient as Green Bay's but perhaps some formations/actions can be taken from their offense and used.

Only time will tell.

Koehn's ability to kick into the end zone on kickoffs is a huge weapon.
