King Kong
Joe Lunardi has Iowa as a 10 seed playing Ole Miss and then Arizona

Jerry Palm has Iowa as an 8 seed playing Xavier and then.....Kentucky

Both guys currently have 8 big ten schools making the tourney, more than any other conference. Lunardi has Illinois as a "Last four In" team. They're going to be desperate for a win on Wednesday vs Iowa.

Iowa State - 3 seed, RPI 10
UNI - 4 seed, SoS 178

Iowa stats:
Current RPI: 56
BPI: 42
Pomeroy: 27
Sagarin: 27

Final record probability:
21-10, 19%
20-11, 42%
19-12, 31%

Probability Iowa beats Illinois: 70%

Here's what Illinois has done on the road in conference play.

L @ MI 65-73 (OT)
L @ OSU 61-77
L @ NE 43-53
W @ NW 72-67
L @ MN 71-79
W @ MSU 59-54 (MSU was 7-18 from the free throw line)
L @ WI 49-38

Of course Minnesota was 0-5 on the road in conference when they visited...and is now 1-7 We should win but can't play dumb.

If we're taking a poll I vote for these 2.

Just when I get high on Iowa though Minnesota/Northwestern happens. I'm trying to remain guarded :)

It looks to me like the bubble is completely jam-packed with teams this year. Iowa is nowhere near a lock, but they're a lot better off than most of the other bubble teams.

Sign me up for a 10 seed right now. Anything beats being on that 8/9 line, unless maybe if we end up in a bracket where someone like Gonzaga is the #1 seed.

Yeah Gonzaga or Villanova wouldn't be terrible teams to run into if you have to run into a 1/2 seed.

It would be a dream to draw either of these teams. The Zags don't exactly own the NCAA Tournament. How long since their last Sweet 16?

This could very well be the first time in history a #1 seed goes down. Gonzaga is barely beating their conference right now. If Iowa gets the 8/9 game I hope they are in the same region as the Zags.

You couldn't get much more disparity between #1s than Gonzaga and Kentucky.

It would be pretty sweet to get an 8 or 9 seed, win, then end up going against a 16 seed in the next round.

UNI would deserve a 4. Zaga doesn't deserve a 1 and shouldn't. ... wont beat out Wisky.

Before we lost to Minny and NW I groused about us being an 8 with potential of Duke in Charlotte in the second round. Now after dropping to a 10 seed and then rebounding to an 8 after the wins against Nebby and Rutgers, we're in line to play Kentucky in Louisville the second round. Even when we WIN, we lose. lol. Now I want to go back to playing Duke in Charlotte if we'd get to round 2. :p

Other than a case of Murphy's Law, how does everyone seem to know that we're playing UK if we're an 8/9 seed? What drives where the lower seeds go?
