Blackouts: Take it or leave it.

A blackout at Kinnick is scheduled for Saturday. I personally hate them. It looks terrible, especially for a 2:30 kick off on ABC. IMO, blackouts do nothing. It looks dull & drab. They'd be better going with two goldouts a year.

Gold outs might look better, but the don't work this time of the year, as most people don't have as much Gold coats, and gear to wear as they do black.

I've always wanted to see a night game blackout with all black unis sans the tiger hawk on helmet and numbers. Otherwise yeah, they are lame

Gold days are always early, and blackouts later. For the simple reasons of more black warm clothing to wear, and I also learned long ago to never wear black on a hot day at Kinnick.

I always think these things are a bit gimmicky until I was at the NW with the double card stunt deal. I looked at the jumbo tron and was kinda blown away how cool it looked. And to those poor bastards that have to place each card on each seat, oh man what a pain in the a** that would be. While I won't be at the game this weekend there is still a strong chance of a blackout at my house..

I don't care for any of the "spirit" gimmicks. If the fans want to cheer and get loud, put a good product on the field. It doesn't make anyone cheer any louder because they're all wearing the same color

The last time I was at an Iowa vs Wisconsin game, I had a red pom pom on my seat. That looked significantly worse than a black out.

2009 Michigan game. It was a blackout for a night game and they gave the student section yellow pom poms. Looked awesome from the overhead.

Although I'm not sure Kinnick will ever look as cool as the goldout at night for the 2006 Ohio State game did.
