Post-game Press Conference with Ferentz

He's mad ad hell so we'll get to see them pound Illinois then lose to Wisky and Nebraska. 7-5 with a crappy bowl game win to get to 8-5.

likely scenario......enough to keep Barta at bay...Same ol, same ol.

He would change if he cared. He's mad because his brand of football isn't working. Or maybe it's because everyone is now seeing he was never a good coach he just had Norm.

What's probably frustrating him is that his brand of football & philosophy doesn't work anymore, and he doesn't know how to change or move forward.

I don't think Id even give that much credit to Norm.

When KF has had good years he's had out standing talent, especially on D, that was good enough to make basically anything you want to do work.

For ten years nearly every starter on d played in the nfl, you don't have to do a whole lot of great scheming to win with that.

and iowa didn't win nearly as often as they should have most of those years.

Can anyone link the spot in the press conference where he said CJ will get the start next week in order to try and provide a spark to the offense?

I thought not.

CJ going to play both ways next?

He's not our saving grace. Watching the Minnesota QB run made me believe even more that CJ is not the saving grace. We wouldn't dare run CJ between the tackles like that... He's no where close to as physical. And yes CJ is a decent runner for a QB but he's not a speedster either.

i seriously think the value of CJs ability to run is overvalued from our fan base.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ I would agree with this, except for 2009 you can say his brand of football stopped working after the '04 season.

Ha, say hello to Alabama and MSU when you say using a pro-style offense doesnt work anymore with a great defense.

The big difference is Saban and Dantonio are getting great athletes, and are probably just way better recruiters, and they go for the jugular (maybe not a pc phrase anymore).

I just listened to the post-game audio and I would say KF sounded 'resigned' to the fact that he doesnt have a strong team, maybe both physically and with football IQ.

He had to see how bad his front seven looked against their running attack. They looked baffled and didnt maintain their assignments. Guys were trying to make the play themselves opening up huge holes and lanes to run in. Then of course that just opened up the play action pass.

I think KF is really feeling 'resigned' to the fact that he has a very average team with three of the toughest games in the last 4. I am hoping for a resurgence these last three but if we cant beat ISU at home can we come close to wisky and nebby. We can if they open it up to try and outscore them and not hold on for some defensive low scoring game.

The KF "Brand" is ultra-conservative, risk-adverse football. There is nothing wrong with the pro-style offense. Outside of 2009 (which included a lot of close victories and 2 blocked punts vs UNI) that "brand" hasn't worked well since 2004.

It would be nice of KF would bring his style into the 21st century. Heck at this point I would be happy if he brought it into the 20th century.

Thats pretty funny.

I'm not saying it can't work, I'm saying it's not working for him at Iowa anymore with the players he's getting & he has difficulty adjusting his game plan. That doesn't come easily to him.

Let's see we got out coached and out played....happening on a semi-regular basis now....why do we think the current state is acceptable?

And oh BTW doesn't your son coach the OL? Got dominated again today with supposedly 4 star talent at almost every starting position. So much for developing players. That should one unit that is consistently good from week to week. Not inconsistently bad from week to week.

I do feel bad for KF the ship is sinking and he's going to stay on it until he drowns.

All he has to do is change his philosophy and bring Iowa football into the 21st century, and the fans will welcome him back. We're done with kfootball.

I trust that since you are so firm that we need Iowa to move into the 21st C. in football, you can clearly explain what that means? The team that just beat the crap out of us runs almost exactly the same offense Iowa runs, and does nothing really different than Iowa does on defense. But, I await your response! Please enlighten me.
