Any inside info on which QB took most 1st string snaps this week?

Should have known that Kirk would continue to play Jake 99% of the time (this weekend we'll see if that holds true) when against IU, he brings CJB out as an option QB (and gets him dinged up). It just goes with the criticism of this staff not using their talent accordingly.

You have your QB with the best arm, and best mobility come out and run the option? If it was a true competition it would have been same scheme.

I don't dislike Jake. I think he's a good QB, but he's broken in this current system. You put him in NW system/style, and I think he flourishes because of his accuracy on the short to immediate routes. They would also have him throwing a TON more slants and seam routes versus trying to get him to float a ball 30 yards across the field for a 2 yard gain.

I was shocked last week when we didn't even attempt one pass over 20 yards (or maybe we did attempt just ONE) after the IU game and he came out a few times throwing down the field.

CJ makes those throws look so easy (doesn't mean he'll always complete them)...but it seems like KF is set on Jake.

I think they only had 2 short practices last week on the bye. Coaches were on the road recruiting a lot of it. This week is full go. I was curious if there had been a 2 deep released. Don't they do that on Mondays?

Le Riddick will safely game manage us to more OH WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN demoralizing close losses to teams we should have beaten.*

7-5 max. MAX. More likely 5-7, outside shot at 6-6 with some luck. The games will be safely managed though, so save your complaining for someone who cares.

*Bucky Badger and Herbie Husker are gonna absolutely destroy us

Some of you hold onto Hope like clone fans.

CJB is done barring injury to Rudock. Just move on.

I knew he was the next QB, but I didn't know if he was officially #3. Ferentz said at one point that he's not and they he didn't know what he'd do if we needed to have a 3rd qb in.

I wasn't aware Kirk has said that. In that case, looks like Kirk does not want to risk burning his redshirt and would likely go with the walk-on in an emergency.

Looks like Walsh is healthy enough to go this week moving Blythe back to center. Either that or Ferentz just photo copied the two-deep from a month ago.

Is Paki still number one on the RBs? That is the easiest way to tell.

It's gonna get ugly for both Kirk and Jake on Saturday if we struggle again, which is more probable than possible. Kirk stubbornness to change is gonna be reflected in unwarranted booing on Saturday the minute we either can't move the ball or Jake throws a pick six. It's not if, it's when. I myself am on the CJB wagon and won't be booing Jake, rather booing Kirk.

Yeah, the 2-deep has been released. I saw it on RH's scout sight.

In regards to who took 1st team snaps this week. Does it really matter? Unless, Jake gets hurt he will start and his suspect arm will get a workout throwing 2 yard checkdown routes this Saturday against Northwestern. Northwestern will get us this week for sure. Fitzgerald owns Kirk and his band of misfits. Hate being negative, I'll go sit in the corner as punishment:)

After the Pitt game we should have just gone with CJB for awhile. I know Jake had a few nice plays against Indiana, but I'm confident if CJB would have taken the first team snaps all week, and been given a chance to get into a rhythm, we would have been fine in that game also. Maybe he takes too many risks for KF, but we are past the point of needing to take more chances with this offense. Especially because our D is not dominate. But it will be Jake all the way Saturday barring injury.

Problem with that is CJB DID take all first-team snaps AND started at Purdue. He didn't exactly launch a Heisman campaign.

But the BIGGER problem is that, if we (as our HC says) have two "perfectly capable" QBs, WHY is one of them NOT being used in a way that either gives the other a breather and chance to "see" the flow of the game as an observer OR throws off the opponent defenses just a tad?

But a bigger problem is this: Yes, KF is head coach, but I seriously doubt he micro-manages the offense. Play-calling/scheme against MD was atrocious. And if the OC or other offensive coaches can't or won't approach the head coach on this, it isn't the "bigger" problem, it's the BIGGEST problem. Either the head coach is too hands-off...or he's too hands-on (with respect to QB, etc.). He can't be both, though. Thus, the coordinators and position coaches need to jump in.

I'm not saying pull Jake entirely, or stay with one QB, or whatever. I'm saying get a new OC and/or offense position coaches.
