B1G Things: My Hoops Power Rankings for 12/5

You could make an argument for Wisconsin being the #1 team in the country should they beat Marquette today. No undefeated team has had a tougher schedule. Not a ton of great wins but potentially 6 good wins in just 10 games.

St. Johns
Florida
St Louis
W. Virginia
Virginia
Marquette

Wisconsin goes to 10-0. I still think OSU is better but you can't argue with Wisky's body of work.

MSU isn't healthy so they get an incomplete on their grade

Some folks are putting me in a position to defend Wisconsin. Please don't make me do that.

They are 10-0 with the best SOS in the league. I said this poll was about right now. That's what these things always are.

I think the order of the top 5 in conference will come down to 3 things...not exactly earth shattering revelations here. I'm talking Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State and Michigan.

1 - Don't lose a home game...drop back a game from the lead pack with each home loss.
2 - Don't lose on the road to anyone but the other 4...1 random loss elsewhere has to be the max.
3 - Beat 1 or more of the other 4 at their place...like a 2 game swing for the road win and their home loss.

1 - Michigan and Wisconsin most likely candidates to do this IMO.
2 - Michigan isn't looking too good away from home.
3 - Michigan State has the best chance...would put Iowa (size) and Ohio State (recent history) here as having a chance of getting 1 somewhere.

Michigan state, Ohio State and Wisconsin have proven that they can win on other opponents home courts in tough environments over the years. MSU has made a living at it, OSU=has defense will travel and Wisconsin gritted out a win at #2 Indiana last year.

Wisconsin benefits from not having to play @Osu or @MSU and they've owned Michigan over the years.

Iowa can knock off any of those teams home or away but through 3+ years Fran has yet to get that signature true road win other than the Wisconsin win up at the Kohl. Need to beat Indy, MSU, OSU or Michigan at their place

Playing a bunch of 50-100 programs in the OOC is a tougher schedule than most teams play. That does not mean they have played anyone that is a legit threat to beat them. Florida had 3 starters out. Villanova would beat them. IMO. You can't take anything away from their schedule but I'm not going to crown them yet. Not until they play a top 25 team. Right now.

I'm not hollering HOMER, Jon.....

Not even certain what a Homer is.....

Another excellent, well constructed analysis....

Thank You....
