Notre Dame

The positive, unlike losing to Va Tech, Iowa won so it really is insignificant at the end of the day, ND will help Iowa unless they finish below .500 because of their opponents in conference.

The Xavier win might end up being a big deal just because it kept us from having a bad loss. They have looked like **** since they played us too.

We'll see his numbers at the end of the season, so far through his season he has doubled his production from last season. He average 7 and 3 last year, I don't see him being any type of all-conference type player. Because he has a career game against Iowa doesn't mean he is good, how many guys have their career game against Iowa?

A bunch!

i think this has somehow been lost. also, if Iowa beats ISU, will there be whiney threads for weeks after that it wasn't pretty enough? seriously people.

It has not been lost and it isn't a whiny thread about how they weren't good enough, I am chiming in on why they lost. They don't have effective big men. Okay, so Sherman had a double-double, what did their other 3 guys do and why does ND lose that game with the backcourt they have, just shouldn't happen. If the guards struggle, they have no real dependable guys down low that can make up for the lost production. After Sherman, the next highest score is averaging a whole 5 ppg. This was the issue with them all last season when they lost and how ISU beat them in the tournament, their frontcourt was just better and nothing has changed.

There's also commentary on Notre Dame losing hurts us. It doesn't hurt us much in the long run (as long as we pick up some quality wins) but it is a little annoying to watch what could have been a win vs a top 25 team all of a sudden seem like it could be a win that falls out of the top 50. When you haven't danced in 8 years, you follow minuscule things, especially on a night/day when Iowa is playing and not much is going on in college basketball.

I don't know that ND is a Top 25 team though after watching them against Iowa. Iowa's defense didn't show up for much of the game, if it does, Iowa blows them out, especially at home.

I meant as far as preseason expectations go. They were ranked preseason with experienced/talented guards who just went to a tournament.

No doubt there, but with all that returning talent, they just continue to be missing something and I think Iowa could have played far better defense in that game, hindsight is 20/20 though.

It took me watching them struggle with Miami (OH) to realize that they weren't that good. That said, it's not uncommon for them to struggle in the non-conference schedule and then make a run when it comes to conference time (though, when you're entering a new conference and have to prepare for all new opponents, I feel like that's going to be tougher for them this year since you are kind of playing non-conference games most of the year)

my comment wasn't a jab at anyone. just saying some of y'all need to settle down a tidge. if that's even a word.

Ok? I just don't know how you could say their bigs aren't good when the guy had 29 and 9 against us.

I heard there was this guy from Iowa State that dropped 54 on Iowa one time. Had an OK rest of the season. Ended up playing for the Quad City Thunder.

Compare your argument with looking for Ms. Right vs. Ms. Right-Now. The ND dude was Ms. Right-Now.
